Some very good points about Neville. I hate it when people say that Snape 'bullies' Neville: he treats Neville like a normal child and like any normal child he expects Neville to pay attention in class and not make a (potentially dangerous) mess of things. To suggest that Neville is somehow 'special' (read 'imbecilic and fragile to boot') would be a disservice to Neville. Neville had a confidence (towards adults, not towards his peers) problem before he ever came to Hogwarts. Neville will have to overcome that, and to pat him on the head and tell him he doesn't have to conform to the rest of standards of the classroom because we can't *possibly* expect *Neville* to achieve such a thing would not only be a gross injustice towards Neville, but would also be counter effective...
So, applause for your handling of the 'Neville thing'.
And I love the way Snape's approval or disaproval starts to matter to Harry more and more.
