Well, all things considered, Snape's being a very good sport about all this. He could've just decided not to bother with Harry and let him run about willy-nilly as long as he didn't kill himself or destroy Snape's property.

I really liked how you characterized the Dursleys, especially Petunia. Usually I find that she's being portrayed as subserviant to Vernon and here you show a more equal relationship. I really liked how she said, "Don't be ridiculous," as she tossed her cleaning rag aside; she just seemed in charge.
The cleaning speel Snape uses on Harry is also very clever.

Wow! Great first chapter! Both Snape and Harry are very in-character and I really like the direction this story is heading in; I look forward to reading the rest of it!
