Reviews For For Duty and Honor
Author's Response: Thank you! Glad you're enjoying this. I update on Tuesdays, so another part will be here tomorrow.
Author's Response: Thank you! :)
Author's Response: I decided before I wrote it that this story should focus more on Harry's recovery, the fallout from the revelation, and acquiring a family than on the actual abuse. While that might be interesting to see while she's still 'teaching,' Umbridge won't find out about the Dursleys until much, much later. Harry's friends aren't about to talk, and the staff avoids talking to her. Only Dumbledore, Poppy, Snape, and McGonagall know at this point. The other Heads might be informed, but it's not general knowledge that Harry has been abused. :) Glad you're enjoying this, and it'll be updated next week!
Author's Response: Thank you! I've often wondered why in stories of this nature that ff authors make Harry do the poor-pitiful-me routine. It doesn't suit him, and it's not the norm for survivors of abuse...
Author's Response: thank you!
Author's Response: One of the things I like about the books is that his friends are his support system. I don't think this kind of thing shows up enough in fanfic. As for the adults, well, they're feeling guilty for not protecting the one child desperately in need of it and they're reacting to that. Harry is mad still, actually, it's just buried beneath a heck of a lot of confusion at the moment. There will be a return of angry Harry, but right now he's unbalanced and trying to cope. The Voldemort dreams will be coming back--this is still currently filling in everyday space that's glossed over in OOtP. His own mind is providing enough horrors to keep him sleepless at the moment without Moldywarts intruding. Glad you're enjoying this little jaunt!
What a lovely chapter! So, who will become poor Harry's guardian? Snape, I hope - especially if you can do it in a realistic way rather than another "oh, the Headmaster has offered me too many lemon drops and I can't refuse him anything" ... you know, the way that these things often happen. I'm sure your way will be more creative though! Author's Response: It's in the cards. And as a kind of a change, because I think it's clichéd and overused, I don't intend to have the Headmaster ask Snape to do it, either. You'll have to wait and see. *laughs evilly* I'm glad you liked this one. |
