Title: TWO: the Sorting Hat's Swan Song 07 Apr 2014 10:31 am

Ok, this is surprising! Still I like it, great idea, it is a bit rough on the students.
So glad this story is long and complete. I'm looking forward to hours of enjoyment.

So far pretty good, still liking it.
Title: Prologue 07 Apr 2014 10:21 am

Ok, I will try hard to review each chapter. This is starting off well, Dudley isn't bad which is fine. Petunia is believable mean and inconsistent to be nicer but still abusive. So far the only thing surprising is to think Snape wouldn't send the homework - doesn't seem like his character but have to see.

So, why were the Slytherins against Draco during the game?

This line threw me--- "James Potter and Lily Evans – perfect for one another, of course, both from good wizarding families, both... high-spirited." Snape and Slughorn both are very much aware that Lily was Muggleborn. She was not from a wizarding family, good or otherwise. This line just doesn't make sense to me. Why would Snape say that? Why doesn't Harry pick up on the error?

    Author's Response:

Wow.  What a dreadful error, lol.  I'm not super-awesome with canon, but I've known all along that Liy was Muggleborn.  I'm not sure why that line is there, since I have now written this story (wow) - seven or eight years ago.  Given the nature of the story, I was likely trying to point at prejudice again: how, since Lily was such a talented witch, Slughorn thought that she MUST have been a pureblood.

Or, you know.  It's a mistake.

Oh, Draco's motivation is easy to figure out. If he deprives Harry of his best friends then Draco can try to step into the role. Easy peasy. I don't think that Harry has lost his friends though. However, there's always room for more friends.

I think a part of Harry resents Ron and Hermione. I think a part of him believes the things he said to them. I also think a part of Harry wants to distance Ron and Hermione from him for their own protection. I think another part of Harry wants to distance himself from his friends so that he won't feel the guilt he always feels when his friends get hurt. He wants to protect himself from the pain.

Oh yes, one thing I have been wondering---- Where is Luna?

Overall.... I feel extremely disturbed, as I am sure is your intention, dear author.

    Author's Response:

Yes.  Yes.  Right on all counts.  ;)

Title: ELEVEN: Conversations and Chemistry 04 Apr 2014 8:14 am

Harry's thesis has been researched by Snape, I'll bet. Maybe this was Snape's own thesis when he was at Hogwarts as a student. Or perhaps it was his master's thesis. If I'm right... what could Snape be thinking? That he has seriously underestimated Harry would be rather obvious. What else could he be thinking?

I adore this so far. What in the world is going on with Harry's grade?
Title: THREE: the Unsorted House 02 Apr 2014 8:42 am

I enjoyed reading the reactions to The Sorting Hat's decision. I think the reactions were genuine and in character. I have always suspected that Harry wasn't the only person who was sorted into a house that wasn't the Hat's first choice. This is a very interesting and thought provoking chapter.
