Pretty good so far. As for other stories similiar theres one on fanfiction dot net. He's not a YOUNG child, but a child none the less, and develoups cancer...
It's called Recnac Transfaerso and it's by Celebony...also a good read.

Ugh, the rating system on this site is seriously flawed if a story like this is getting the same number of chocolate frogs as AYLNO.
Or maybe it's not the rating system, but rather the audience's lack of discernment.
The mark of a good, caring author is the attempt at plausibly explaining some inconsistencies. You say you "need" things to be a certain way but make no effort to justify the changes beyond your self-absorbtion. Do you serve yourself or the story? What does the *story* "need"?

I tried, I just can't get into it. Is he still three years old? He speaks, thinks, and acts like a much older child. The world-weariness could be explained by his lack of a nurturing environment, but the verbal and cognitive abilities are well beyond a normal child. If anything, one would expect him to be linguistically behind.

"Tow," not "toe," leukemia is a blood cancer, it begins in the blood, it does not spread to the blood, "die" not "dye." Also, I highly doubt Harry would call Severus by anything other than his given name unless strictly ordered to after his experience in an orphanage and with the Dursleys.
