Reviews For O Mine Enemy
Author's Response: Yes...they do seem to have their bumps, don't they? Thank you for the reviews! It's so fun to hear what you liked about each chapter. :)
I love your story soo much, thank you!! This is one of my favorites
I couldn't find out how to answer your kind response to my review of the next chapter. so I write it here. -I dance around joyfully, when a Real author writes back to me,- hrm....well, I mean yes, where was I?- 'Opus Harry P'.is Latin: opus - the whole work or series of Harry Potter. Still enjoying reading this story again and again. Severus is so formal, proud and awkward, diffident in friendship; Not many have taken the chance on him , have they? Like a stiff crane spying into the water. Young Harry is carefully..eager. huggles.. They really want to trust each other and you have caught that longing. Author's Response: Ah okay! I've been out of the fandom for so long that I thought maybe I was missing a well-known story or that it was a code word for something. But that makes sense :) And I dance around joyfully when a real reader leaves me feedback, so it's mutually beneficial, isn't it? :) :) haha - And I love your description of Snape. Spot on, lol!
Author's Response: Me too! It took them long enough!
Author's Response: Sometime in between the publication of Books 6 and 7, I was pretty sure (i.e. hopeful to the point of desperation) about Snape's true loyalties and had an inkling about the Lily connection. But it was only after somebody else pointed out some clues to me. (The different way Snape & Dumbledore's overheard conversation in Book 6 could be interpreted, for one. How Snape's worst memory in Book 5 made more sense if it was about Lily than about James for another. A few others too.) I thought, wow, it makes total sense! But all I really wished for going into Book 7 was to find out if he was a good guy. And for him to help Harry in some way. AND FOR HIM TO LIVE. Which he didn't. Which caused me permanent emotional damage from which I still have not recovered. I wonder if you figured it out?
Author's Response: Hi! I'm so happy that you took a chance on this story and even happier that you're enjoying it! I went through and revised all of my chapters before I started posting new ones, so it helped me to get back into it from a continuity standpoint. Thank you for the review - it's so nice to know whether I was successful there. :) I'm hoping for another few chapters before I take a break for NaNoWriMo.
Anyways...When it comes to reviews I'm about as articulate as our dear Harry trying to apologize to Severus. So... I guess I'll say this - I'm in absolute love with this story, the pace and tone of the story are both perfect. I love your characterization of Severus, and I absolutely love how you're painting Harry. He's an awkward teenager put in to an awful circumstance that no one should deal with, but he's still human. He's not perfect, and he's going to make glaring mistakes and be a total prat sometimes. But you make him learn from it. And things aren't instantly better either. No. He has to work for it. As well he should. I do hope he is able to "Trust" Severus in the way that he needs to though. I really want that, badly. I know I'll have to, but I can't wait to see what you do with this and where you take it. Author's Response: Ha - I'm sorry I made you growl, but your growl made me laugh. :) I'm so so glad that you are enjoying the story! Hearing what you liked was music to my ears. I really want Snape and Harry to trust each other too. Writing is funny sometimes - you think you're in charge of where the characters go, but then you sit down to write a scene and they drag their feet say, "no, writer! Not that way! This way instead!" And I'm a pushover, so I follow down the path they lead me to, and sometimes it winds up in the delete pile, but often it turns out that they knew better than I did what they needed to do all along. ;) Thank you for reading and reviewing!!
Author's Response: Haha I will not tell Snape that you called him sweet. You might get detention for that. ;)
The Lily thing is new. It's the only thing that I changed from my original plan. Originally, I had a backstory all planned out for Snape (involving his guilt for his part in the death of his father), but through the years, I fell in love with the Lily angle and how it perfectly explained Snape's loathing-yet-protection of Harry. By the time I took up this story, I wanted that for my Snape. It's the only thing I altered in my story in light of the final two books, and I hope it's well received. It doesn't change my overall plot plan, just adds a layer to it. Thanks for the review!
