I quite like your formidable-wizard!Dumbledore in this chapter. The interaction between Snape and DD is also fun. I especially liked this exchange:
"Harry didn’t dare break the silence, but Snape didn’t have any such reservations. He impatiently gestured for the headmaster to continue. “You know something. Suspense is not desired, nor appreciated, Albus.”"

I must confess to always enjoying it when one of our young witches or wizards turn out to be a Seer. I really like your take on the fact that the ability doesn't manifest until the person is old enough to handle it. I'm not sure Trelawney fits in this since she doesn't remember her predictions, but I can see that being necessary if one does remember.

And that fits in with the fact that your Harry actually is a little young. We get so used to super-intelligent!Harry in fanfic that your Harry almost seems too young--but he really isn't. This situation is testing him emotionally and mentally and you are doing a good job of showing this.

    Author's Response:

Thanks for the comments!  I like that you mentioned Trelawney - I actually was going to write a bit more about her, but it didn't seem to fit the flow of conversation, so I cut it.  My thoughts on Trelawney in the context of my story are that while she is technically a Seer, she has never reached the point of development necessary to "connect" with her Inner Eye, though it has manifested itself to others through her with information that needed to be told.  Basically, I guess she's a stunted Seer - comparable to those many wizards whom Dumbledore stated would never know they were Seers because they never reached the either emotional or magical development necessary.

Hope you don't mind my rather long explanation... ;)  Thank you for the review!

I saw that you had updated this morning and saved it to read until this afternoon, because I wanted to delay the gratification, I guess...lol. I've been hoping for an update and read this chapter as slowly as possible to make it last longer.

God, this chapter was incredible. The juxtaposition of the two prohecies is brilliant. I never thought that there could be a worse prophecy than Harry's.

Also, I really enjoyed the scene where Dumbledore was scolding Harry and Severus, telling them to put aside their differences. I guess I really love ashamed!Harry almost as much as ashamedbuttryingtomaskit!Snape. lol. But poor Dumbledore. I have a tendency to get annoyed at the man, but this chapter really made me sympathetic towards him.

Have I told you how perfectly you characterize Snape AND Harry? Harry tries hard to be mature, but he is so torn between adolescence and adulthood. The way you write him just really emphasizes that fact.

I'm anxious to see if Harry has any more dreams/nightmares and how Severus deals with it. I sure do love Snape's subtle, comforting gestures. *sigh*

I feel like....reading this chapter again. So I'm going to do just that. You are such an amazing writer, though! Keep it up!

    Author's Response:

Delaying is fine, hehe! I like it when reviews are spread out sometimes, because I get to enjoy them longer. ;)

Thanks for the comments re: the prophecy & Dumbledore. It's nice to know what you like & don't - and I admittedly didn't know how my introduction of a prophecy would go over. So thanks for the affirmation, hehe!

And feel free to read the story/chapter over and over as many times as you want to!!! lol!

Have we seen the last of Harry’s dreams?
Probably not, I don't think. In fact, I'm hoping to see more of them, since they seem to be so very interesting! Oooh, Seer!Harry ... that's so bloody awesome! Giving Trelawney a run for her money now, eh?

    Are Snape’s loyalties truly decided?
I'm hoping he sides with Harry, of course!

Will Snape continue to resist in helping Harry to learn Occlumency?
Hopefully not! Especially in light of recent events!

Will Voldemort succeed in his plans to capture Harry?
...Given the nature of the visions so far, probably yes. (Although I'm already wincing in sympathy pains ... it's gonna be hell for poor Harry!)

And finally…will Snape and Harry EVER learn to just get along?
Hopefully, yes! :) I'm most looking forward to it, in fact!

You know, nothing delights me more than seeing my favourite fics being updated after returning home from a long tiring day! You've really made my day now with this update - thank you! This chapter kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through ... and OMG I can't believe you just ended it there like that! Ah, the suspense is too much! How is it that you manage to draw me into the story further with each chapter? My only complaint is that there's not enough! Please please please update soon!!!

    Author's Response:

hehe, It's fun reading your answers to my questions!  Let's see...how much to give away?  Well, I'm gonna tell you you're right on the first question.  The rest...well, it's fanfiction, so not too incredibly hard to figure out if you've read enough, but I think I'll leave them open anyway.  I might decide not to go the predictable route, you never know... ;)

Thank you for the long review!  If my story made your day, your review definitely made mine! :)

    ZOMG POST MOAR PLZ :) :) :) :)

See, one of the things I like about you is how you can actually do plot. Things happen in your stories, and they're all suspenseful and foreshadowy and tension raising and stuff.

I like that Snape is actually speaking to Harry with a modicum of civility now. First step, civility, next stop HUGS!!

Yeah, no, I don't expect that to happen, but still. Civility is cool.

    Author's Response:

LOL!!!  You make me smile. :) (See?)

Thank you for the compliment! It means a lot from someone who makes me mad with brilliantly evil cliffhangers of their own... ;)

Don't expect all smooth sailing for these two, but don't expect no progress whatsoever either. Hugs? Well...maybe if Snape were on pain of death and were allowed to memory charm every person within a square mile radius? I'm not saying it won't happen, mind...but, well, it would take a pretty radical shift, as you can see. :)

So I'm glad "Step One: Civility" is cool.

Excellent chapter! I'm glad they atleast somewhat believe Harry about the whole dream thing. It seems like Harry will be having some tough times ahead with everything going on. Keep up the great writing!

    Author's Response:

Tough times, tough times... If only poor Harry had a mentor to help him through it! But where to look? It's not like he's got one right under his nose, right...? ;)

    Thanks for the review!

Another amazing chapter. A new prophecy! Awesome idea. And to make it centered on Snape's loyalties, wow, what inspiration! I'm sooo looking forward to future chapters. Seer Harry, figure this out!

Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked the prophecy!  I wrote it quite a while ago, actually, and had to dig through my notes to find it in time for this chapter. :)  Thanks for the review!

This chapter made me excited and nervous; it was so riveting. This story keeps gaining new depth, and the fact that I can't anticipate what'll happen next just makes it even better.

You write excellent dialogue. Not just between Harry and Snape, but also Dumbledore. And the characterization of Dumbledore is marvelous too. These lines in particular actually brought tears to my eyes:

'And Harry knew, looking into those sorrowful eyes, that the older wizard had done many questionable things in pursuit of what he considered a greater good. Things he never expected to be forgiven for.'

You write a very human Dumbledore and describe his burden so well. He's flawed and marvelous and moving.

And I'm on edge with all of this suspense. I love the fact that Snape's loyalty hasn't yet been set in stone (as far as Dumbledore and Harry know, anyway). I think that so far he's been more on the side of the light, but probably also wants to hedge his bets, so to speak, and make sure he has a place in the world no matter what side wins (thinking of that shadowy conversation with Lucius...)

Speaking of Wall Watcher, I wouldn't put it past Snape to do something similar and eavesdrop, but Dumbledore can probably sense if he is... right?

And Harry the Seer? (well, not a seer yet). I love how you're handling that. Because he's still just Harry, and he's still too young to deal with all of this. But he has the potential for future power. And maybe now Snape, in spite of being skeptical, will have some reason to revise his assessment of Harry's abilities (come on, Snape, can't you see it? A patronus at 13, resisting Imperius, youngest seeker in a century, and a damn fine pufferfish-body-part sorter.)

I can't wait for the next chapter. I wonder how Harry'll use this new information. If he'll be more respectful of Snape and solicit his help in things. Snape seems like someone who craves respect, who wants to be needed and important and consulted.

Oh, and Snape still has one round left in Q and A to be asked at a later time... wonder what he'll ask Harry...

Good luck with your writing, keep up the wonderful work.

    Author's Response:

WOW! I cannot tell you how much reading a long review like this means to me! THANK you!

What's next? Well, I can promise you lots more Snape/Harry interaction coming up. I think that's pretty much the next chapter, as a matter of fact.

I am glad you like my Dumbledore. I do like his canon carefree side, but as I had him dealing with some pretty serious stuff, I didn't think he'd feel right making too light of it all. I do hope I get the chance to show you a more lighthearted Dumbledore later in the story!

Yes, what HAS Snape been discussing with Lucius...? :)  And although I can guarantee you that Snape was NOT listening in to their conversation, I can't say that Dumbledore detects each and every last evesdropping spell...even if he is so extremely powerful.  But I guess we'll see...

Anyway, this response is getting long, but I had to tell you how much I appreciate all the thought you put into the story! Thank you!!!

Great chapter! Snape is going to feel all special that he has a prophecy all about him. I wonder if he is going to be happy about playing THAT big a role in the war. Can't wait for more.

    I LOVE THIS STORY.

    Author's Response:

Aw! I LOVE THIS REVIEW! :)

Yes, I wonder if he will be happy playing that big a role in the war...assuming he finds out about the prophecy at all, that is... ;)

    mmm...*munches some cheerios*

yes, i take "food for thought" rather literally. so sue me. *smirks*

fascinating chapter! at the end, i swear you sounded like one of those little announcer things at the end of a tv episode, asking a bunch of questions and dun-dun-dunning and the oh-so classic stay tuned at the end! XD

any suspicions i had about harry's so-called inner eye were only heightened by this chapter...not sure if it's just paranoia, or whether i'm justified! everything's just a bit too...clean, maybe? hmmm...and the way he remembers stuff after they exist...tampering with memory, or something?

okay, i just reread half your chapter looking for that line that made me wonder...found it!

It was like…maybe a part of himself has been holding the memories for him, so he’d be able to recall them.

    so suspicious....

anyway, i guess i'm just a paronoid belle at the moment, but these new developments are fascinating!

    loved the chapter!

    Author's Response:

Yay! *munches on yummy reviews* I LOVE long reviews, and I've received so many this chapter, I'm simply thrilled! :)  Yours being the first, of course!

I'm glad you heard my announcer voice...I practice nightly.  And I certainly hope I'm not to blame if you leap into paranoia...I don't want the horrible responsibility of having destroyed your sanity or something.  Eek!  I'm curious what you mean by 'clean,' though...

    Thanks for the review, belle!

Another great chapter! I enjoyed it, especially the Dumbledore/Snape/Harry interaction. You write them all wonderfully in-character.

I can't blame Harry a bit for being so upset at the idea of Dumbledore sending him back to the Dursleys, especially now that he knows how truly bad it is. Even in canon, I always felt Dumbledore (much as I love him) should have done more to protect Harry.

Harry might have had to have lived at Privet Drive (though I think he'd have been safe at Hogwarts under Dumbledore's protection, too), but certainly Dumbledore could have insisted that the Dursleys treat Harry better.

Ah, well, sorry to get off the point. Back to your wonderful story. I have a feeling thought, that Snape will have a say in it too. Either flatly refusing to allow Harry to go back or volunteering to go with him. Now that would be interesting to see--one glower from Snape and the Dursleys would probably be waiting on Harry.

And Harry really is seeing the future, hmm? That could be scary, considering what all he's seen. I'm looking forward to the next chapter!

    Author's Response:

Thank you for the review! I am so happy that you like my characterizations - it puts smiles on my face! :)

hehe, I like the thought of Snape glowering the Dursleys into submission, especially once they truly know what devious deeds that man is capable of committing...hehe.

Stay tuned! I'm done with the next chapter - just need to revise it. It should be up tonight (9/3). I look forward to hearing what you think!
