Reviews For For The Boy Who Has Everything
However, I quite enjoy this story. Not only have you avoided the cliche plot device of using Snape being Harry's father as a way of miraculously transforming Snape into "Mother-of-the-Year" (as you put it), but you've also managed to keep Snape in character. Very, very in character. He is such a bastard in this story--I love it. I want to backhand Lupin for being so weak and submissive, which I presume is your intention. He is allowing Snape to influence him negatively and it's ridiculous. I really enjoy your characterization of Lupin. Bravo! Poor Harry. He's stuck with a bullying Snape and a spineless Lupin. The boy has no one and nothing, and it's sad as hell. This is a very claustrophobic story; I feel like I'm trapped and suffocating right there with Harry. Not too many fics have the power to make me feel that way, so I can definitely appreciate ones that do. Snape and Lupin are absolutely selfish in this story. It's... well, it's messed up, that's what it is. Amazing and believable story. Very original and different from the rest in this category. I hope you haven't abandoned it; the Harry Potter world of fanfiction needs more stories like this. Excuse me while I go sit in the nearest corner and patiently wait for an update. :)
I enjoy POV stories, and Rowling herself is an expert at misdirection. I don't know if you are trying for that or not, and I suppose you'd rather not say.
I suppose that this chapter has brought out a question on Lupin's health - is he really dying even without the poison? I have not yet understood as to why the Ministry - or rather, under what excuse, the ministry decided to haul up both the sides - perhaps they decided to make out DA as another group or army which wanted to go against the Ministry. Also, I am not sure how McGonagall and Snape survived it in that case. WHy were they not apprehended? Perhaps, they were apprehending everyone present in the Ministry. In that case, Kingsley,Tonks and the other order members who were present shd be under some disciplinary action? Or maybe, they were excused as aurors trying to work for Minsitry. AT least, in that case, other DA enlisted students would have gone free. Lots of questions - about Harry and Snape as well - does not really look like a SS/LE case though I really do hope Harry's birth did not involve capture of Lily and rape - I hate those stories and I really like your stories. Ofcourse, the question is if he is even Snape's and Lily's son - may be he is just someone else's. Given that Snape is gay ( or is shown to be till this point), who knows? Of course, except you. Love the story - please do keep updating. Author's Response: I enjoy developing the characters most of all. It's always more interesting for me to see characters change in response to what happens to them, instead of having them inexplicably change their minds or feelings about something. All of these questions are great. They're all important to the plot and will get resolved eventually. I try to go for "things are not what they appear" whenever possible, since it's more fun. Harry's point of view is what skews a lot of the information that the reader receives. Even when info is handed to him, he can't put it together properly. There are good reasons why each of the people we saw harmed by the Ministry were targeted, and why others get only relatively minor harassment. No, I don't ever do rape/suicide/self harm and other themes like that. It's completely unnecessary in my opinion.
OKej my request. "There are only two Severitus fics I know of that manage to keep Snape from becoming Mother of the Year and Harry from being a spineless puddle of goo, so we will see how my attempt goes" Can you give me a links to this Severitusów? |
