Reviews For For The Boy Who Has Everything
Okay, I'll try to calm down but I'm all jittery and excited now. Nervous, what have you. This is a credit to you of course, lovely chapter. I loved and loved that Snape and Lupin were arguing and was it just my imagination or was Snape getting a bit possessive of Harry, you know in a good way? And he wasn't quite so horrible so okay, I have faith again that maybe it will all turn out all right, though seriously, Lupin is still on my last nerve, though I can't really tell you why except that I just want him to give Harry a hug. I know, wishful thinking and I think Harry might faint from the shock. Ha, yeah, I'm a bit giddy, did I mention. Loved this chapter though. I'm liking Harry as Hadrian hanging around with Draco and Neville. And just what are Hermione and Draco up to??? Hmmm, okay, go ahead and write me another, I'm excited! Love this story. :D Author's Response: Thank you! I thought this chapter was pretty weak, suffering from the fact that it only covered about three hours of time. It's hard to get anything interesting to happen in that short time frame, but there were some things that needed to get squashed into the story before Harry has his birthday. Yes, Snape is getting a bit defensive and possessive. No matter how much he might want to hold Harry at arm's length, being criticized is not something he handles well. When did anyone ever think it was a good idea to tell Harry the truth? He might just have to figure it out on his own... but knowing him he will jump to a dozen wrong conclusions first!
the communication is coming. I am wondering if Harry should try Snape's wand. I hope that your RL keeps cooperating with your writing so I don't have to wait much longer for an answer. Author's Response: Another chapter is on the way. This chapter was actually supposed to continue, rather than ending abruptly with Harry drama-queening on his bed, but I decided to post this part so as not to hold up the update. My beta is already working on the second part right now, so it shouldn't be too long. :-)
Author's Response: Thank you! No, Harry would never reject his friends, and it remains to be seen if he can ever get over his history with Draco or any of the other Slytherins (one of Harry's "flaws" is that he doesn't tend to change his established impressions of people, even when given reasons why he should). I think some stories really do Harry a disservice by painting him as someone who could just reject everything and everyone he's known. The friendships he's made in Gryffindor are not something any sane person should want to trash.
Author's Response: Harry is about to turn 16 in a couple of days. I don't have my timeline in front of me, but I think Chapter 17 ends on the morning of July 28. Thanks for reading and reviewing! There should be another chapter soon, although I'm going to update Three Times Trouble first.
Author's Response: He's been depressed since Sirius' death, but he doesn't have anyone him who spends enough time with him to realize that he hides his emotions around people he doesn't trust. Lupin is worried about the panic attacks, but as Snape pointed out, Harry's only had two so far.
Enjoying the story as I always have but oh, the wishing and hoping... Author's Response: Well, it is from Harry's point of view, so what he assumes are other people's feelings and motivations, might not actually be true. Harry assumes Lupin doesn't want to be close to him because Lupin blames him for Sirius' death, but just because Harry is satisfied with that explanation, doesn't mean that's all there is to it. Harry is about to have his birthday, which is a major plot point in the Severitus challenge. Although that doesn't necessarily mean that Harry's life will get easier, it does mean that the story will start going in a new direction. I think some of Harry's tolerance is just stubborness and self-blame, not true tolerance. Depending on what's happening, he either believes he deserves it or doesn't want to show that it bothers him. People around him find it easier to convince themselves that's he's doing fine when he isn't.
Great job by the way. I left you a very long review at FFnet, because I didn't know that you'd updated here too. Author's Response: Thanks! I haven't checked reviews at FF.net yet, but I'm about to. :-)
I'm also enjoying the idea of the counter political backlash against both sides. Basically, YAY, there's more and YAY there's Draco. It's the middle of the night here so not my most comprehensive feedback... Author's Response: Thanks you, that's huge praise! Chapter 17 should be up today, and it continues everything from Chapter 16, so there will be more Draco.
Author's Response: Look for Chapter 17 tomorrow! I just got it back from my beta and there isn't too much to fix.
Author's Response: Canon Harry can be an arrogant, disobedient, rude, lazy, bad tempered, stubborn, uncooperative little rule-breaker. He leaps to conclusions and he is dismissive of adults who have greater knowledge and experience because he thinks he knows better. Until the bitter end, he continues to divide people into good and evil based on whether they're NICE to him. He shows almost no ability to change his mind about people he doesn't like. I'm not sure what positive qualities he would display under the circumstances (high stress, being kept from doing what he wants, etc.). It would be nice for Harry to be a more sympathetic character, because people might start to treat him better. Although that sounds a bit like victim-blaming, because they should be treating him better no matter how he's acting. It might also be a tall order because some of his good qualities are precisely the things Snape doesn't like about him and/or can get him and his friends killed right now. Thanks for reviewing! |
