I very much admire the restraint you showed in writing this scene in the way you did. So many times this kind of scene is pushed too far, with the responses of the "avenging" wizards (usually Snape or Sirius), way over the top. But you've been so careful to make Dumbledore's reponse so, well -- *right.* And Snape only "loses it" just a little at the end. Really well done scene!
What a powerful chapter, and one sorely needed in the canon books. I wish it had been there, too. You did it very well.

So so so awesome.
I particularly love this bit: "I would kill you now," he says, "if Potter did not have further need of you. Be warned. I have done worse for less cause, and I have not the Headmaster's...prudence."
That and the fact that he takes one of the soldiers when he leaves.
