Several times I had to remind myself that this isn't the book by JKR, Snape was so good. I thoroughly enjoyed their conversation. Now Harry's ? What? What happened? Get back here and help him!
Oooh. This is very interesting. Snape in denial around his emotions is always a pretty fascinating character.

Wow! I have to say that while I was initially a little turned off by the use of present tense (which I've often seen badly handled) you pull it off without a hitch that I could spot.
I love the characterization of Snape; I can really hear your lines coming out of his mouth, and I appreciate the fact that you are able to capture the bitter, acerbic, and often downright nasty part of his nature--not turning him into some kind of maudlin caricature--while acknowledging his more noble impulses as well.
Oh, and I have to say I *love* the line, "I know what a car is, Potter. I am a wizard, not a troglodyte." Laughed my ass off reading that.
So, I'm *really* hoping that the long lag between chapters doesn't bode ill for the completion of the story, and that there'll be more to come soon.
