    Wow! That was chilling!

Harry's use of the Sorting Hat was brilliant and I didn't at all see what was coming.

Also loved Harry being all Gryffindor and not wanting to go without Snape.

I don't know who I felt sorrier for - Snape or Harry - when Snape gave Harry is reason to leave without him.

Can't wait to see what happens next!

I figured it out, I think! When Harry was making the list, I noticed that the first Letter of each line is : A T D U S. and I knew it right then that if the next started with a K it would be At Dusk, and I was going to start writing this review right when i read that, but then I was like " no, Vintage, you should read the whole chapter first", but I couldn't do that because I had to leave. So now I'm back, and I read the whole chapter, and it was amazing. Brilliant. But the best part was that The last clue started with K. So it does indeed spell At Dusk. and then you reminded me of the window, that's showing the SUN! and I think I figured it out. but I'm not sure... so I hope you reply to this review and tell me I'm on the right track! Even if i'm not this is the greatest fic ever!
Update Soon! I'm sorry if this has a lot of run-ons. I tend to talk fast when i'm excited, and writing's similar to that.

    Thanks

I just read a review by, I think, harriverse and wanted to add to my comments. Yes, I'll agree that these trials they're going through are starting to come across like a kind of psychological torture. Sure they learn and grow from it, but I'm starting to think of Nietzsche's comment of "whatever doesn't kill you make you stronger," which certainly doesn't *justify* the situation.

Anyway, I also wanted to say that my appreciation for this story has grown a good deal with each chapter. I'm really quite interested to see where you finally end up with it.

“Were it not for me, Potter, the Dark Lord would never have had the slightest inclination to seek out your family.”

I was thinking today that Snape probably did think this, and in canon, I think we, the readers, are supposed to assume this as well, but it's simply not true. Lily and James had already defied Voldemort 3 times and were in the Order at the forefront of the war. James was a "blood-traitor" and Lily a "mudblood." The Longbottoms were attacked for having just such characteristics -- not because of Neville. No, even without the prophecy ever being spoken, James and Lily would have been prime targets by Voldemort and the Death Eaters, and without Voldemort's downfall trying to kill Harry, the war would have only continued and they'd very likely have been attacked just as the Longbottoms were. Of course, that doesn't take away Snape's guilt, but it does show that it wasn't solely because of Snape that James and Lily died.

Good chapter. It did seem just a bit awkward at the point where the snake appears and Snape suddenly jumps into action and then does the "don't know what came over me" reaction.

No, Dumbledore wasn't masterful, this chapter was! Many fic make the reader really dislike the old manipulator, but few manage to distill it into a few paragraphs as well as this one. He has maneuvered Snape back into caring, by getting Harry to take the shocking steps HE did with the snake and the sword, and then, when brave Harry, true to form, refuses to leave, noble Snape masterfully proves just how Slytherin he really is...believing that he is supposed to reveal his actions so many years ago to Harry in order to get Harry to leave without him.
So, Harry is truly Gryffindor, with a strong smattering of the Slytherin; Snape shows how noble the true Slytherin can be, and Dumbledore plays with people's lives like they are pieces in a Wizard's Chess game.
    Great story telling!

You were right. That chapter was hard to read, but not because of the way it was written. Very well written chapter, actually. This event has changed from a bonding experience to one approaching torture. Doesn't Dumbledore know that when they leave this room, neither will ever trust him again???

Go Harry! I'm happy that he got a chance to hit Snape! I wonder if Snape's nose will be any more crooked now...

Oh boy, more sneakiness, more pain. I really hope they both find a way to freedom and peace soon. This is really getting to my heart. :)

This is beyond brilliant. I don't know how you do it. You have such a talent for building suspense... I'm actually rather speechless right now. Just know that this chapter was amazing, and as much as you can't wait to start writing the next chapters, I'm DYING to read them :)
