Great chapter. More Charlie sometime, please.
I want those nightmares to stop! The poor child! I was lucky enough not to suffer through very many nightmares as a child, but the few I did have were very powerful and I can still remember the with shocking clarity. I couldn't imagine having them night after night. *Shudders* I love Charlie. Everytime I see his name - anywhere I read it - I want to give him a big hug for some reason. Then jump on the back of his broomstick like a biker chick. Heh heh. I'm so glad you implimented him in this story. Great work!
I love that Molly knows what she's talking about, and isn't in love with her own first impressions, and doesn't let Snape's reflexive, semi-insulting insularity scare her off or keep her from telling/asking him what she needs to. I love that Snape is able to unbend enough to realize she *does* know what she's talking about and that a little oh-so-scary openness can be tolerated in a good cause. I love that Charlie, teenager though he be, isn't resentful about being stuck with a pack of little kids all day and is nice to--rather than merely tolerant of--Harry. I love that Hagrid isn't stupid, even though some make the mistake of portraying him that way. I *especially* love that Harry gets to make a little progress and have a whole day go by without something horrible, or painful, or scary, or devastating happen to him.
On the technique to avoid nightmares, I've used something like that before with young children and it worked fairly well.
Best regards, Jonathan
An interesting lesson for Severus to teach Harry. But it makes sense, given the circumstances and the Slytheriness of it all. I liked it. I'm also glad that Harry wasn't really punished, though it did make a thought come to mind. I wonder if at some point Harry might begin to use this ... lack of punishment to his advantage. It would be something a kid would want to test out, especially when he gets to the point where he's comfortable enough to do so. Or it wouldn't even necessarily be a conscious thing, but he could begin to assume he's able to get away with things. Anyway, I like the idea of Charlie being there too, lol. Poor guy. He babysits at home AND at Hogwarts. Lol. Looking forward to more :) Keira Author's Response: That is weird about the chapters, didn't notice it myself. But now I've deleted one. Yeah, Harry will be testing his limits, absolutely. He likes knowing what the rules are, but there's lots more ways he can get into trouble than there are rules. ;-) Charlie's 14 (15 in December) at the time of this story, so he's probably well used to the baby-sitting schtick. Poor thing. More will be forthcoming . . . er, tomorrow. Thanks for the review! |
