I don't understand, is it weird to have your fears act like a storm? Or is it that Harry is doing so well at Occlumency or has Harry always had his fears hidden away? I'm glad that Harry is doing so well but I can't wait until school starts.

I really like how as Snape leaves, Harry has doubts about Snape being his guardian, but when Snape comes back he looks up hopefully and then wants Snape to do the paperwork before anything else. :-)

Oh, that sucks about Harry's things! It truly sucks! So many were really irreplaceable. If it were me I would be hysterical, but I guess he has worse things to deal with than just losing those things. How he finally reacted really tells a lot. :-(

An intriguing end to this chapter. Not so much a cliffhanger, but definitely something to wonder about and anticipate.

YES!! Go Snape for pointing out a few home truths to Dumbledore, and standing up for Harry when he needs it most!!

Canon!Dumbledore has always struck me as being just as bad as the Dursleys for sending Harry back there year after year, and I love how you've shown him out as the manipulator that he is!!

Terrific chapter - and I'm looking forward to Monday!!

Heh. Reminds me of a button I saw once: Bottomless Pit of Wants and Needs. That would be our Harry. Not to mention rage and pain. I'm interested to see how Snape reacts to the flat denial of access. I hope he doesn't let his shock and (dare I say it? worry) make him shove back too hard, because I think that would be, ah, unfortunate at this rather fragile point in the relationship.

I thought the conversation with Dumbledore was well-handled, and I was rather fiercely pleased with Snape for not pulling his punches, despite the very real--and very clear to him--danger of such a frontal attack on the only person standing between him and Voldemort, not to mention the only person who seems genuinely willing to believe in him. It's a mark of his courage, one of his most admirable traits. And that he feels bad about it--not about the truth he told, but about the hurt he knows it caused--is indicative of loyalty and empathy, two traits he clearly possesses, however much he tries to hide them.

The journaling continues to be well done, and offers fascinating insights into how Harry's mind works, how essentially open he still is, despite everything, how *desperately* he wants someone--anyone, really--to want him for his own self. His apprehension about how Remus and Ron will react to the idea of Snape as his guardian is spot on and, unfortunately, all too likely to be justified, particularly by Ron.

Remus, at least, is old and experienced, and *kind* enough to probably not explode all over Harry immediately, but I really can't say the same for Ron, and Harry so needs his friends. I hope Ron can rise above himself enough to realize that.

Anyway, thought I might should actually leave an actual review, every now and then. :) Just remember, I know where you live, and I know you're not supposed to be typing like a mad fiend. Maybe you should look into voice recognition software.

Don't think I haven't considered it.  Alas, I have a chapter of Whelp to work on, as well as Slytherin!  No rest for the wicked, I tell you.  Oh hey!  Did I mention that Jeffery wants me to get screenwriters' software so I can write screen plays more easily?  I think he's tired of me guessing next lines, next scenes, and such about movies and tv, without, you know, being paid for it.  ;-)

The Legilimency scene was brilliant. Awesome description of Severus pushing through Harry's memories. The imagery you use is amazing. How do you come up with this stuff? lol.

*throws you a down comforter* Actually, I wish I had one right now as well. This classroom is FREEZING!

    Great chapter!!

It sure does count as food!

Very very interesting. I'm ultra curious about what Snape saw, or if he truly saw anything at all. I hope they hunt down those Dursleys and give them what for, as Uncle Vernon might say. Vernon deserves a taste of his own stinkin' medicine. Same with all those Death Eaters... just not as... uh... Yeah. Leaving out a few details, perhaps. Yeah. Lol.

:-) That was a rather chilling image there, at the end---I do hope Severus isn't too cowed.

    Author's Response: Who, Snapey-kins?  Cowed?  Never!  ;-)
