Reviews For Walk the Shadows
best. line. ever. it kind of makes me feel like spock is raising harry. very unemotional. but also very snape. great work!
The journal entry was so... well, I was going to say precious, but that feels a little funny. It was touching. It's so nice to see him no longer drowning in his anger, and realizing that that it's alright to be upset and confused - and that he needs to experience those feelings to aid his recovery. And Family Services finally made a stop! Wahoo! Although, I fear that the story is going to be ending soon because of it... I hope -- if I'm right -- that there'll be a sequel so we can see how this all progresses :)
I like Madam Phineas. Numerous times writers make Ministry officials, even the child services types, to be either clueless, or too officious, or have all sorts of hidden agendas. Harry needed someone he could trust enough to open up to a bit and your Madam Phineas is believable as that person.
This one is just heartbreakingly beautiful, while giving me cold chills at times too. Parts of it were so intense, I could barely keep reading. And even though I know it's wrong, I really want Malfoy and Voldemort to suffer--really, really suffer--for what they have done to Harry. No one deserves it more than those two! Harry's recovery is brilliantly portrayed, and I love how Snape has been there for him and has come to care for him. He's providing the structure and stability, as well as the comfort that Harry needs to heal. The scene where they have left Diagon Alley after running into Malfoy, and Snape realizes that Harry knows he is not a killer, and is so afraid of failing everyone, is just so emotional--sad, sweet, wonderful, and sad again. I'm gushing, I know, but it really touched me. I loved how Snape held Harry and promised him that he wasn't alone, and Harry responded that he always faced Voldemort alone. That scene is the one that broke my heart most of all because it's always been true, but I hope Harry won't have to be alone anymore. The interview with the caseworker was also very well done. Bet Harry and Snape never thought they'd be in that situation, even a few weeks earlier. I can't wait for the next chapter!
This was a brilliant and well-written chapter. I loved it. Favorite lines: "Muggles don't often have the resources to deal with magical children." "You're telling me," Harry muttered. "Thank you, Mr. Snape," she said and sat where Snape directed her. "It's Professor," Harry told her. "Sorry?" "It's Professor Snape. Not Mister." "I see. My apologies, Professor." "Quite all right," Snape said, giving Harry an odd look, which Harry returned, with interest. **And last but not least: "Our interactions are satisfactory." Updates on your stories make my day. Keep it up! |
