I loved the way you handled the visit to the Dursleys. You avoided the typical scenarios and still came away with Snape knowing a good deal of what Harry's life was like, leaving behind a nasty little jinx, and yet no permanent damage. I'm looking forward to seeing how this affects Snape's interaction with Harry. One thing good about this story is that even though Snape finds out more and more about Harry, he doesn't become particularly sympathetic, at least not overtly. And Harry hasn't lost either his spirit or his temper and is quite ready to defy Snape on occasion. This is more like canon Harry and makes for great interchanges between the two.
"Something flung open the door at that moment, and he stared into the soft, pudgy face of a giant slug . . . with arms."
**I laughed quite hard at this line. I don't think Dudley has ever been described like this, has he? It was perfect.
Nice chapter! I like how the Baron is becoming increasingly protective of Harry. I'm starting to really love that ghost. You're doing a really great job of keeping Snape in character and of showing how he does have a temper but is able to reel it back in when he needs to.
I'm looking forward to the discussion with Dumbledore!
Excellent chapter!! That was a lovely visit to the Dursley household. Harry will be horrified that Snape knows of everything that went on in that household. Keep up the awesome writing!
