This is probably the most brilliant, poignant hurt/comfort scene I have ever read. I've reread this chapter many times since you posted it on ff.net, and each time it's effective.
I love how Severus didn't say anything the whole time Harry was crying, just held him.
This whole chapter is extremely well-written and unique. Thanks so much for sharing this story with us :)

Twinheart, you're gold! Snape is so perfect...I love rereading this each time you update here.
There are some places in this story where I just have to look away for a moment and take a few breaths. So many that I can't even list them all....but one is the way that you portray Filius. No one seems to write him, and I love the way that you do. He's ready to get things done, and interacts well with everyone else...
Oh, I just don't know what to say. It's very intimidating to try and summarize why I loved this chapter. Just....publish someday!

You write so realistically that it gives me chills! I love how you show Snape's awkwardness, yet immediate rush to comfort Harry after Vernon lays into him. Poor Harry...the description of him walking around like a zombie and simply leaning against Severus in the fireplace makes my heart ache. This is a poignant but beautiful chapter. And so well-written!
YAY! Snape to the rescue!!!
