I'm glad he realizes that Harry is just a boy, and that, of course, one of his first concerns would be why he was in more trouble than Malfoy. Kids are usually all about fairness, aren't they? I loved the mouth-soaping. Very old-fashioned, but effective, discipline. I'm sure Harry will think twice before using any foul language in the future. I like that Snape gave him an amount of time for his punishment and stuck to it. Two minutes is a long time to have a bar of soap in your mouth, but I think it helped to really drive the point home. I definitely liked Draco's punishment. Seven hundred lines is a lot of lines, and I can imagine that the sentence he had to write was a doozy, coming from the often times verbose potions master. Any chance you'll tell us what he actually had to write? That would be too funny. Anyway, loved the chapter and definitely looking forward to a few more during your break. Hopefully a new one from your other story, too. Thanks so much for the update. Hope you have a blessed Christmas. Bye... Author's Response: The content of the note wasn't really important for Snape...it was more the idea. That's why I had him notice Harry's reaction while reading. Just so you know, Malfoy's intentions will become clearer in future chapters; although, he will be quite a minor character in this story. The whole speech that Snape delivered carried a lot of weight, but I think it would be impossible for Harry to grasp everything that Snape was saying, even though as readers, we realize what he means by 'scars'. And yes, kids are definitely all about fairness. Glad you enjoyed the mouth-soaping...it was rather comical to write, even though I'm sure from Harry's perspective it wasn't funny at all... lol. I actually never experienced 'the soap' as a child, so I kind of had to use my imagination on that part...lol. And yes, he does need Defense lessons. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!
