Hi there, I never reviewed before and for this I apologise. One would have thought it would be only natural to review this story becuase I love it!!! Well, I'll do it now. ^^
Your story is one of the most amazing, adoring, cute and simply wonderful stories I ever, ever read in my life. I love the way you portray the characters, love your attention to little details and to actions not many would able to describe in an interesting, fitting way you did. Furthermore the plot was brilliant and your story made me laugh as often as I sat in front of my pc fawning over the cute scenes and other aspects of your piece of writing. Just before I read the last chap, I read that it was your first ff... I am truly amazed. ^^ Please, please, continue writing such wonderful stories and PLEASE (!!!!) write a sequel!!! ^______^
    Yours truly and happily, Melfis.
(looks at the rating scala..."Where's the 12 on this damn rating scala?!?" >,

Author's Response: Oh, don't apologize for not reviewing; it's all right :)  I'm just glad you read the story and enjoyed it.  Your review really made me smile....thank you for such lovely compliments!

ACK! I just can't believe it's over. I've been following this story for so long, and it's really depressing me that it's over. But that's only because it's flipping brilliant, Jade. I want you to think long and hard on that sequel. There's just something about your Snape and Harry that I haven't found anywhere else. It's just so refreshing. I have adored Snape in this. He's perfect, and Harry is as well. Such a 12 year old. It's been so fun to be along for the ride with you.

Now, this chapter? Well, it was great, just like all your others. I loved the part with Poppy and Harry, especially while Harry was watching her bum waving in the air. See how you do that? Such a childish perspective. And yet, then you can write Dumbledore and Severus so well. Your dialogue was wonderful this chapter. Dumbledore was as elusive as in canon, but somehow not quite as annoying. Although, I am irked at him for not telling Severus more information about Harry. Harry, I suppose, doesn't need to know, but Severus should. Bless Severus for being so patient (and LOL about Lockhart).

I just adored Snape giving Harry that present. The part with Harry running his fingers over the HJP indentation in the cover. Well, that was brilliant. You always show us how your characters are feeling, without clogging it up with words.

And the end with Snape and Harry was perfect. You could see that 5 months had gone by. They have a beautiful relationship now. Teacher and student, with a little more care. And I love how comfortable they are with one another. And yet, it was such a gradual change, you hardly noticed it while you were inside the story. you ddi that so well, Jade. And I love how Snape calls him, "child".

I really love this story, Jade. I went back and re-read it before I reviewed. That's why it took me so long. This is definitely one of my all-time favorite Snape/Harry fanfics, so thanks so much for that. You are amazingly talented, and whatever you choose to write next, I'm a certain it will be marvelous. And if you choose to write SFS, well, then it'll be even better. LOL Lots of tackle hugs for you, Jade. You deserve 'em! Congrats on your first completed fic!

    Author's Response:

I sort of had this feeling of...disappointment...since the story's over.  I didn't realize how much I enjoyed writing it...  It's a sad experience, Tab.  I sad one.  I understand why you started on a sequel...it's almost like a consolance for the soul.  LOL.  Hm...consolance...is that a word?  I often make words up.

I also realized that I made the epilogue incredibly vague and didn't climb into anyone's head like I usually love doing.  It's almost like I was forcing my readers to guess what was going on in our boys' heads...trying to decide whether Harry was telling the truth or whether or not Snape was as strong as he seemed to appear.  Sneaky, sneaky, Jade... *Punches self on shoulder*

I feel like I *used* to clog everything up with too many words (especially in college) so I decided to work on that throughout the story--by the end, you were lucky if you got a full sentence.  LOL.  J/K.  I did really work on conciseness, so I appreciate you pointing that out :)

Funny--your story is one of my all-time favorite Snape/Harry fanfics.  *high five*  We're a pair, huh?  And I've just snatched up your newest story and given it a gigantic hug.  I love it.  I can't wait to read what you've got planned for that.  By the way, I'm never annoyed when you send me your stuff to preview, so if you ever want me to look through it for errors (I promise I catch them when I read others' work...lol) I would be happy to oblige.

I'm dying to start on SfS again.  I had to catch up on some beta work because I suck and left my poor writers in the dust for the past week.  :(  But after I respond to reviews for EE, I'm going to get started on good old Starting From Scratch again.  Yay!

Thanks so much for all of your help.  Honestly, you've been so good to me...LOL.

This was amazing. i started reading it yesterday and finished today. I hope you are going to go into third year. If not, thanks for this. You kept Snape in character... most authors who do the Snape and Harry parental relationship don't.

    Author's Response:

Book 3 is actually my second favorite in the series, so it would be incredibly fun to explore ;)  I *am* glad that you enjoyed this story as it stands, however.  I tried as hard as I could to keep Snape in character.  There were certain moments where I thought....Harry could give him a hug-- No, that wouldn't work....Snape could smile at--  No, definitely not.  LOL.  I had to hold myself back on the fluff explosion.  Thanks for appreciating the story's subtlety.  ;)

I love the way he's been calling Harry, child! It really makes me smile.

Please for a sequel????? I'll read it all and be very, very happy:) You know you want to (flings an Imperius--just a tiny one:)

Author's Response: LOL.  If Severus were to ever call Harry by some sort of moniker, I figured that 'child' would be as soft as he'd go.  He slipped in a few 'Harrys' now and then, but I think that would definitely be difficult for Snape.  I'll keep working on ideas for a sequel ;)  I'm glad to hear that you'd be interested in one!  Thank you very much for the review!

First things first: the words "writing a sequel" made me squeal with happiness.

Now on to the review for the story! lol I just have to say that I absolutely love your interaction between Severus and Harry in this *entire* story, especially the facts that Harry isn't a complete angel and that Severus didn't completely fall in love with the little munchkin the first time he saw him. Even at the end (love the last line by the way XD), he still only grudgingly admits, even to himself, that he likes the boy. I'm just so... I dunno, overwhelmed and kinda sad that this is over, but I loved how you ended it. I'm definitely looking forward to anything else you plan on writing, as well!

    Your faithful reader,
    ~Myrrdin

    Author's Response:

The thing about Severus is that he may be completely taken with little Harry, but he'll never admit it.  I think that canon Snape would have a difficult time with that--and that's mainly why the mentor relationship in this story has progressed so slowly.

And I'm rather overwhelmed too!  LOL.  It's sad ending a story--relieving, but definitely sad.  I've got another one I'm working on, but once I'm finished with that one, who knows what I'll do.... ;)  I've got some ideas for a sequel (nothing definite), but I'm kind of nervous at the thought of writing a continuation.  Sometimes they're not always the best.  I'm really pleased that you enjoyed the ending.  It was one of those endings that could suffice but also left room for possibilities.

Well, faithful reader, I must say that I've appreciated the feedback you've given me throughout the story.  Thanks so much for hanging on through all thirty-two chapters :)

omg! i love this story and i didnt realise it was the end!!! NOOO! i just finished it was thinking "cant wait til the next one" and then i saw THE END and im like...oh that finished pretty suddenly, but it was a nice place to end it without opening another story line. well done. i'll be on the lookout for a sequel

    Author's Response:

Well, I've been warning readers about the end nearing for like 6-8 chapters now, because I knew that if I waited any longer it would seem abrupt since the story took place up until Christmas.  I probably could have written another 30 chapters about the second half of the year, but I came up with the epilogue to show that things were basically stagnant during that time.  I'm glad you were able to get a sense of finality as you read the epilogue, however :)

    Thanks so much for reading!

Oh, this was wonderful! I loved the last bit. Your chapters are always so great, and I love how Snape cares about Harry but not in a sappy way. I'll miss this story a lot, and I'm all for a sequel if you're up for one. But don't feel like you have to because this story is lovely on its own too. You're a great author and I look forward to reading the rest of "Starting From Scratch" and any future stories. ;-)

Author's Response: Hi, Caroline!  It's so great to hear that you're following both of my stories :)  There are many readers who usually favor one mentoring relationship over the other... lol.  I suppose I left the story with somewhat of a loose end in case I decide to write a sequel, but I really wanted to tie it up in case I don't.  I'm glad you're willing to accept either decision :)  I do love writing and I try to update as often as possible, but when real life gets in the way, it's difficult.  Thanks for understanding and for leaving me such a wonderful review!
