that was a great chapter i loved the silent communicatio between harry and severus....

But I had fruit! favorite part in the entire chapter.

    Author's Response:

Silent communication is definitely what went on in this chapter!  LOL.  Good thing Harry picked up on it, I guess... ;)

Thanks so much for taking the time to let me know what you thought!

That spell that Snape used sounds cool, and handy. Unfortunately, I doubt the basilisk has been killed yet. I'm very curious about how you'll go about defeating the great snake, should be a good scene.

The scene at dinner was pretty funny. I liked how everyone was so annoyed at Lockhart, and the stupid git just kept on talking obliviously. Sounds so cannon, lol. I also liked the interaction between Snape and Harry over the fruit, sounds a lot like a parent trying to get their kid to eat more healthily and the kid being all reluctant.

I liked the talk between Dumbledore and Snape as well, it shows that the characters have their flaws and times when they are feeling down, and Snape seemed to appreciate the talk.

Can't wait for more chapters! They are getting closer and closer to facing the Chamber, it's kind of making me anxious ^^.

    Author's Response:

Thanks, Beth!  The Chamber will appear in the next (and final) chapter.  And the epilogue will be more of a few-months-down-the-road sort of thing.  I hope it works out, as I've never written an epilogue before... *chews nails*

"then pocket his explanation as quickly as he had his wand."--this is s genius line.

"eyes raking over the peculiar emotion that seemed to slither about his professor’s face without ever declaring itself."--this is such beautiful imagery . It really captures what's happening so well. I love how you have lines like this.

I absolutely adored the whole fruit/sweet roll thing. It is so 12 year old-ish. And it's a wonder Snape doesn't even realize how fatherly he is acting toward Harry. But at least, Harry ate the fruit. So, proud, Harry...

I love your Lockhart and Trelawny. I was just picturing the two actors in the movie; it was that well done. Perfect.

And I am so excited that Snape knows to go hunting in the bathroom. YAY! I already told you, but it's seroiusly like watching a really good movie. I'm on the edge of my seat here!

Your Dumbledore/Snape convo was so beautiful and heart-wrenching. Dumbledore was perfectly done and that bit with him putting his fingers around Snape's "tainted arm"--well, just left me speechless and my gut clenching with nervousness. Snape has so much pain from his past mistakes, and you showed that so well. I felt for him. And for Harry. For everything that went so badly wrong. *teary eyes*

My gut clenched all the more as Snape swept in and cupped Harry's chin. It was so easy, so natural. I love how far your Snape has come. It's such a great story of redemption. And Harry didn't try to pull away. The whole scene was so great. And the part where Snape, rubs at the sticky sugar on his chin. Can I just say, "awwww"? You really created such a reaction from something so small. How do you do that? Oh yeah, you're a sodding genius!

Oh, I just wait until we get them into the chamber. I'm so nervous. Get writing, Jade! I mean it! I can't wait! :oP

    Author's Response:

Well, see, now I'm torn between writing the final installments of EE while my mind is still in the Snape zone and writing another chapter of SfS (because you know how it calms me down...lol).  Advice?

I reread the Albus and Severus scene, and it actually surprised me how poignant it was.  I had originally planned more of a venting-frustration-and-getting-advice-from-Al sort  of conversation, but it somehow warped into this.  And I like it much better than how I had orignally planned to do it.  I seem to just flush my plans down the toilet as I write...without realizing that I'm doing it.

It was the same way with the sugar-on-cheek scene.

I think I asked you this before, but does that happen to you?  Ideas flowing as you write?

By the way, I read the rest of Crucio during my prep, and my God, it's amazing.  Snape is perfect.  Anyone who thinks he's too harsh in this fic has been clearly warped by the fanfic world. LOL.  Absolutely loved it, oh, Clever One... ;)

Thanks so much for leaving me a review AND for previewing this for me!  You always help boost my confidence.

i really enjoyed this chapter and severus adding fruit to harrys meal made me smile and the fact that harry ate it was good that he trusts snapes judgement, i do hope they succeed in the chamber

Author's Response: Thanks, kreacher!  It's good to know you're still reading and enjoying my story :)

I really like this chapter, especially the part with the sweet roll. Kids and pre-teens are notorious for getting sugary stuff everywhere.

I like how this is heating up and how Lockhart the Idiot's comments give the final clue to the mystery.

And Snape is really worried about Harry though both of them refuse to admit it out-right. Let's just hope Harry can stay close and not try to play the hero as soon as they reach the bathroom.

Ah, you're so bad for me. When I want to start writing my own chapters, I'm all "Oh, I need to get started on my own chapters of Harry Potter or . . . I could go read Jade's stuff again." And I never get started.

    Please write more.

    Author's Response:

I'm pretty sure that even I, as a twenty-three year old, am notorious for getting food everywhere.  I definitely sympathized with Harry in that scene ;)  I always wondered how messy he would get eating treacle tart, since cleanliness has never been a huge thing for him.  Weird thought, I know.

Alas, the bathroom scene has finally arrived.  Been forever, yes?  I suppose if Harry gets himself into trouble, it won't be completely deliberate.  He's sort of like that...

And I must say, I simply wallowed happily in your final comment, as I'm pretty sure I've read House and Life w/ Bruce about ten times in the past two weeks ;)  It's unbelievably flattering to know that you like my stuff enough to wade through it more than once.

Thanks for the awesome review.  I should lock my students in the supply closet, and then I'd be able to write more... *rubs hands together in plotting*

I loved this chapter. I say this every time I know, but I'm still amazed at the detail you put into a chapter without over doing it.

I loved the scene at the table where a mere look or simple gesture from Snape can have Harry sitting up straight or eating a balanced breakfast. Adorable.

    Great chapter!

    Author's Response:

Hey, Tiffany :)  Glad you were able to read this chapter!  I appreciate your feedback!

“It is a wonder the House of Ravenclaw has been able to carry on without you…”

Love it, his dry humor never gets old. So brilliant, Lockhart is a moron beyond moronic proportions, it amazes me that anyone was able to put up with him for as long as they have. Sev and Harry at breakfast was great thank goodness for wandless magic. It was really funny that Harry put the sticky bun down just because of his look. They've really come a long away if Sev is getting Harry to comply to his wishes with just a cough or an eyebrow raise.
(Although I think if I was faced with Snape and his eyebrows I would do what he told me too, without out much fuss). LOL.
I think it was really sweet that Sev stills needs reassurance from Albus that he's doing the right thing with Harry. Can't wait to see what happens in the chamber. Keep up the awesome work and please update again soon. LES

    Author's Response:
The sarcasm thing I can do, because I have a dry sense of humor myself.  LOL. My favorite scene to write in this chapter was definitely the one between Harry, Snape, and the sweet roll, so I'm truly glad you had fun reading that one :)  They really have come a long way.
The scene with Albus was a tricky one, because it's challenging writing Severus as a man with weaknesses.  But in the end, it seemed to work out.
I'll try to have the next chapter up before the end of the month!  Thank you a ton for the review, Lindsey :)
