Reviews For Emerald Eyes
Author's Response: Thank you for reading and letting me know what you think about the story :) I'll update soon so you can find out!
I noted that someone wrote about Gryffindor’s sword not having the Basilisk venom so how could it defeat the book – the sword is magical –it is the sword that actually destroys most of the horcruxes and i don’t think it was just because it was covered with venom it is powerful in its own right. Can i make a plea for Severus to become Harry’s guardian please please please not just a mentor/teacher Love this story and hate to see it end (sequel – year 3 ?) Author's Response: I can see why readers would be confused about how the diary was destroyed, but to be honest, the whole issue with the horocruxes and the sword of Gryffindor is still rather sketchy. We never found out about anything having to do with that until the 7th book, so there *could* be others ways of destroying the diary, I suppose. I appreciate you keeping an open mind about the whole situation :) Snape and Dumbledore open the next chapter, so you'll find out what happened. But since this is only the CoS, Dumbledore still only has his suspicions about what Tom Riddle has done. We, on the other hand, know more than he or Snape does. It's an interesting form of dramatic irony that I never really though about until now...lol. (I do that sometimes.) I have thought about a sequel, but I don't have anything definite yet, so I won't make any promises in case I never get to it. But I do promise that I'm thinking about it. ;) Thank you very much for your thoughtful review!
Author's Response: Thank you! It's coming. I began working on it last night ;)
Author's Response: Well, the diary has been destroyed. But Snape and Dumbledore will discuss how it happened in the final installment. I had the basilisk scene planned for quite some time, and it was incredibly nerve-wracking to write...lol. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. 'Together' was just how I wanted them to be for that defeat--each of our boys did his part. ;) I appreciate your review, Kathy, and I hope you're having a good weekend!
I loved how you wrote Harry's anxiety, I could really feel it when reading it. I think it's cool Harry got to talk to the basilisk for a bit before it was killed, definitely an interesting encounter. I too was expecting something else to happen like Harry was, something bad too. Glad nothing did happen though! I thought it was funny when Harry didn't want to feel childish by being carried and Snape gave in for Harry. Something he'd never have done before. I am curious about how the diary got destroyed with the sword. I also wonder what Dumbledore wishes to discuss. I’ll be looking for your next chapter :) Please post again when you can. Author's Response: Hi, Beth :) Yes, there was a lot of rising action in this chapter, and the tension was deliberate. It wasn't the most exciting of defeats--I know. But the fact that Harry could control the basilisk and meet its gaze without croaking was more important. ;) Harry is small for his age, but he's still twelve years old. And it would definitely make him feel 'even smaller' if he was carried out of the Chamber. Sure, we would have loved the heart-warming scene. I would have adored writing it. But it was important for Snape to recognize Harry as a person with feelings. It was sort of a step toward maturity for both of them. Glad you liked that scene :) I really want to post the next chapter on Monday night, so that's my goal. I've written about 400 words so far and I gotta say--it's sad trying to end this thing! *sniff* Thanks for the feedback!
Author's Response: LOL. They never seem to see eye-to-eye on anything. It's rather refreshing to be able to write Snape and Dumbledore in agreement... I can't believe this story is almost over either. It makes me feel like I'm missing something, even though I know there's one more chapter that will officially bring everything together. *sigh* I'm have and always will be flattered to be on your favorites list. :) Thank you for sticking through all thirty-something chapters of my story!
Author's Response: Well, I made a note several chapters prior that events would not be completely canon until the end. So, no, the sword wasn't used to kill the basilisk, but it *was* used to destroy the diary. The 'glowing handle' of the sword is a bit of a clue as to how that was accomplished--and seeing as this is only CoS, it will remain somewhat of a mystery to those involved. The next chapter will begin with a conversation between Dumbledore and Snape that will explain what happened. Thank you for the nice compliments :) I'm glad you've enjoyed this story!
I want to say update soon but i'd be lying because i really don't want it to end, so i'll say instead, till next time. Cecilia Author's Response: Ah, Cecilia.... You make me smile :) *hugs* Thanks for reading and leaving me some feedback!
Good chapter. Good story. Author's Response: Yes, that was exactly why Snape agreed to show Harry some respect and appease his request (or small tantrum, I guess)... ;) It was sort of a symbolic scene--Snape crouching "down to Harry's level" for a change instead of always forcing him to see things his way. I'm glad you picked up on that. And I appreciate your interest in my story. Thanks so much for reviewing!
Author's Response: Thank you, Nightshade! |
