Reviews For The Gambler's Son
Author's Response: thanks!
Great chapter despite your illness. You have written a truly despicable Bellatrix and an extremely pathetic Wormtail. Congrats on that. But, I think your greatest accomplishment in this chapter is in showing Severus' desperation so clearly. The fact that Bellatrix is meeting with him is rather ominous. I imaging she is going to strike up a bargain with Severus. That's a bit like making a deal with the devil, isn't it? Poor Harry. I loved his thoughts on what love and hate are. So definitive, aren't they? All black and white, no shades of gray, just like you said. I'm sad that Bellatrix is telling Harry everything about Severus. The poor boy has no way to assimilate that information and I can imagine how confused he must be. I just hope that he loves and trusts Severus enough to give him the benefit of the doubt, even if he doesn't know that's what he's doing. Anyway, I loved the chapter (of course). I hope you are feeling better. Take care of yourself and don't forget about those of us still hanging on the cliff you've made. Thanks.... Author's Response: I love it that you find Bellatrix to be despicable! I was a little concerned about writing her... I love writing Harry's thoughts - if only writing my papers for school could be that much fun! I'm feeling a bit better now, thanks! Merci bien for reviewing!
I'm sorry you're ill - I am also suffering with the flu from h*ll, so you have my complete sympathy!! I'm trying to keep mine from turning into pneumonia, so I'm mainlining Advil Cold and Flu meds and NyQuil Cough Syrup - I highly recommend both of these products if you're suffering terribly, although the NyQuil always causes my sister to sleepwalk and rave about the house - I really need a videocam!! LOL!! I hope you're feeling better soon, so you can SAVE HARRY!! **grins** Scarlett Author's Response: Thank you for your review! I'm sorry that you're sick, too. I've only got and got a cold now, just after getting over the flu! Nooo. I'm not having the best week! Hope you liked the next chapter! Sorry I didn't reply to this before, I thought I had, so my memory's obviously playing tricks with me lol.. :-)
Author's Response: Poor little Harry, I know. I felt so mean for making him suffer, but hopefully he's all better by chapter 6, and he'll manage to keep out of trouble for a while!
Harry knew hate- the seven year-old diluted version. He hated being called names. He hated when Mummy was sad, or when Daddy told him that he was disappointed in him. He hated having to eat his broccoli, or being told ‘this hurts me more than it does you’ when it so obviously didn’t. In Harry’s mind, there existed only good- things that he loved, and bad- things that he hated. It was a world that neglected to include shades of grey, constructed out of purely childish emotion. Therefore, Harry could not understand what Bella was saying. His Daddy came down on the side of good (well, most of the time) so Harry found it impossible to believe that Severus had anything in common with that horrible woman and the cowardly man… because if Daddy were to have been friends with them, he would have to be bad… bad, bad, bad and that meant that Harry wouldn’t love him so. That part I really loved. You've captured how seven-year-olds think so perfectly. I'm amazed at how you can get inside his head. How is Lily taking Harry's abduction? Severus you said was searching all over for him. What about Lily? You're right about the title making more sense right now. Is Bellatrix going to make Severus be a Death Eater again? Or make him help them resurrect Voldemort? Why don't Bellatrix and Pettigrew go ahead and resurrect Voldemort? I guess they would need to find him first and get him into a physical form. Thank you so much for the update. I really love this story. I can't wait to read more. I hope you feel better from the flu. Author's Response: I'm so glad you're enjoying the story, I've been trying so hard to try and keep it as in character as possible - whilst having to be a bit creative with imagining how they'd be in this situation. It can be so confusing! thank you for reviewing! It made my day!
I can't wait to see what Bellatrix has to say now... this'll be good. And good for Harry knowing the 'b' word, lol. She's one if I ever heard of one before. I love his true-to-form childish attitude. I thought he would've broken by then, but good for him keeping strong :) Author's Response: Hehe, she definitely is! I was just re-reading the Deathly Hallows and it reminded me of how much I hate her! Thanks for reviewing! |
