Snape doesn't seem too far out of character in this chapter. He's a mean ol' bastard who takes pleasure in Harry's misery. At the same time, he doesn't let Harry suffer too much. His bark is worse than his bite, plus he's got a Death Eater image to maintain.

Perry,
Snape really does know how to go about not only making a boy miserable, but keeping him out of trouble too! Harry not only has no time to get into any sort of mischief, but by the end of the day, he is too tired to even try. Although Harry obviously failed to consider this possibility, obviously Snape must have let Hedwig out of her cage. Furthermore, while Snape has been horrid, he still hasn't stooped so low as to beat or starve Harry. Not that I'd let Snape babysit for me or anything! LOL!

Perry,
While Snape is certainly about as nasty as they come and there is no doubt he intends to make Harry's life a living hell, I see there are some lines he hasn't crossed. He may have spanked Harry, but he didn't beat him. Furthermore, Snape has fed him,and not followed up with another spanking when Harry gave him an excuse to do so. Although I get the feeling Snape really doesn't need an excuse! Of course Harry doesn't much appreciate that as bad as things are, they could be worse!
Again, what can I say but you are brilliant hon!

Perry,
I am just blown away! If this were a book, you couldn't pry it out of my hands with a crowbar!
As much as I do enjoy a reluctantly fluffy Snape, this characterization works for me. Snape is a man who has known little but bitterness, disappointment and abuse his whole life. While we may know from the last book that deep down, Snape has a noble spirit, but you sure as hell wouldn't know it to meet him! He is NOT a happy man and he is NOT a nice man. He has had a really miserable life and is more than a little angry about it. I can see him viewing Harry as being symbolic of a life time's worth of bitter disappointment, anger and grief. I can completely buy that Snape would be a right viscious bastard and would not want to be in Harry's place right now.

I wish I could rate this story higher than a 10. I like a lot of fanfiction on this topic, as most of it really is awesome, but this fic is definately refreshing. Its been a long while since I stumbled upon one where Snape is continuously intimidating, but not completely cruel (for e.g. he got Hedwig back to harry, even if he does cruely joke about killing the bird) You make snape quite unpredictable..and thats one if the things that makes your fic addicting and not boring. Ignore the flames, Im all for you and so are others. Your creativity and writing surpasses most others. Thankyou~

Hi! I'm really glad you decided to post this early and I didn't notice any spelling errors, which doesn't mean they aren't there but ....*shrugs*. Anyway great chapter and I can't wait for the next. please update soon.
