Reviews For Lily's Charm
Ok, I loved the 1981 scene. I just love the exchange that went on there! Poor Severus...who was perfectly in character here! I especially loved his reaction to how he reacted in the Hospital Wing. I love seeing his logic and how he assesed the situation, it was brilliant. His reaction to Harry's scar from Umbridge was also spot-on. And I love how Harry reacted...is he making a joke?! Remus was also awesome here, I just love him! He's the perfect influence for both Severus and Harry and I hope that he gets to stay in the picture once the two of them become closer. His light hearted tone after DADA when talking to Harry was excellent, I've always imagined him as more level headed than Harry and Severus put togeter. Keep him awesome!! Harry, Harry, Harry. That poor kid, but at least he understands a little bit more about Severus now, and can react accordingly. I do agree with you, though. I think he would try everything he's able to in order to have a family...even if said family is the Greasy Git of the Dungeons. I was also excited to see a bit of the trio in this chapter too...with Ginny!! Ahh, Ginny! So, IS it a date?, huh, huh? Don't know if you'll address it, either, but does Malfoy recieve a zero on his potion? Do we get to find out more about him in later chapters?! I'm just so excited for the next chapter!! YAY!! I really want to see what Severus is thinking about all this. You really do a good job at characterization and the positioning of details within the story, it is truly a pleasure to read! Until next chapter!! (Who needs to study for finals, anyway?) Author's Response: Oh, I'm so glad you got a bit of a break with the chapter. Finals are no fun. I love the 1981 scenes too. I just can't resist Sev, Lily and James and then throw little Harry into the mix and wow, how fun! I'm glad too that you like Severus' ponderings in the dungeon after his tantrum in the Infirmary. It was fun to write, because he's moody, but logical at the same time and pretty dense too. Severus is very complicated! :) The scene at the end was really fun too. Snape cracking a joke, totally deadpan was awesome. I love Harry and him interacting more now, though of course it's not going to be smooth sailing at all. Yay! Remus is great, isn't he? I really think you're right. He's the perfect balance for those two quick-tempered guys. Don't worry, there will be lots more Remus, and angst to go with it as Harry and Severus grow slowly closer. Harry has got to be totally confused but he can think logically a bit too, just like dad! :) I just really got the feeling after OOTP that Harry would accept Severus if only give half a chance. It doesn't take much for Harry to let you in his heart. I love that about him, especially that it makes him so heart breakingly vulnerable. Ginny is the best. I guess you'll have to see if it's a date, won't you? LOL Dont worry, don't worry, Malfoy has a big role to play in this fic still. I love Malfoy and he'll be around a ton. This story is nowhere near even a midway point, so we've got lots to do still. Malfoy doesn't receive a zero, even though Severus was rather annoyed at him for insinuating that Harry was stupid during Potions class. :) He's got to keep ihis mask on, so to speak, you know and of course, he is fond of the mean little blond Slytherin, but more about that later. :) I love that you are so excited about the story. It really boosts me to get my butt writing! Next chapter should be up in a few days, as usual. (and yep, HP fanfics are way more important than finals).
It was nice to see the beginnings of a better relationship between Harry and Severus, though of course, it's got a very long way to go still. And loved Severus' reaction to seeing Umbridge's scar on Harry's hand. I too agree with your Author's Notes, though I think I prefer Snape as guardian or mentor, or adoption fics to him being Harry's blood father. But I enjoy any well-written Harry and Snape story, and yours is very well-written! Author's Response: Hmmm...I don't know which type I prefer. I have read some really awesome adoption and mentor ficts. But, I also love the idea of Snape and Lily together because it was just so sad that Snape had to endure all those years of being in love with her and it was never returned. I was sucked in and fell in love with Snape. That's really why I chose to write this story. I don't usually enjoy the Severitus stories as much where Snape just sort of happened to be Harry's father, without any Lily feelings involved, although I have read a couple that are good. Anyways, enough of my inane ramblings.... :) I'm glad you liked the scar scene...totally inspired from watching OOTP the other night. Remus is the best, isn't he? I think I've got myself a love triangle with Remus and Snape. LOL Yep, these two still have a long way to go. YAY. Thanks for reviewing!
Author's Response: Thanks! And, YAY, that you agree with me. Severitus/Sevitus is so believable to me (well, mostly anyways), just knowing Harry. Glad you're still enjoying the story too! Thanks for reviewing!
Then I see the chapter title ("Nudges from Remus") and I start giggling and actually say out loud, "Oh, THIS is going to be fun!" (And realize I'm talking out loud to my computer and wondering what that says about me. Hmmm...) I've forgotten to put a new box of tissues on my computer desk, but that's okay since I didn't need them for this chapter. Not that this wasn't incredibly fun to read because I LOVE, love, love Severus and Remus conversations. I just adore that werewolf and how he never rises to Severus' level in the temper department, but dang! That man can deliver a verbal 1-2-3 punch in the calmest manner. I've always wished I could do that. And boy, he delivered quite a few great lines. My two favorites: “He deserves better from you.” and.... “And you do not go far enough,” Ouch! After that section of this chapter I have visions of the old "Pinky and the Brain" cartoons where Pinky tells Brain, "Brain, you've got a spot of fire on your head." [And if you've never seen those cartoons you'll have no idea what I'm talking about, but if you have....you'll get it. ;-) ] And Remus wasn't going to back away from his relationship with Harry no matter what Severus says. I sure wish the books had done more with Remus this way. And one itsy, bitsy, tiny baby step was taken today in reaching across the football size chasm of that wonder we call a "relationship" today at the end of class. Snape's anger at Umbridge's torture was perfect. And letting Harry rebrew that potion? Wow!! A baby step indeed. I agree that Harry would do anything (even give Snape a chance) to have a family. And how the heck do you even have time to write these wonderful chapters at the holidays? I bow in amazement, oh wonderful writer! Can't wait for more! Author's Response: Okay, well, I'm pretty sure your review was much more hilarious than my chapter. I am still chuckling. LOL I too love that title. Because, oh Remus is just the most fun to write. I love him! I enjoyed his nasty comments to Severus that were really below the belt but it was totally calculated on Remus' part. Love it. And, yes my husband and I are big Pinky and the Brain fans so now I'm ROFL hysterically. My husband actualy had a teacher in high school named Mrs. Brain, so his friends and he would always say, "Narf!" to her and "What we gonna do today, Brain?" Okay, they were dorks, but it still makes me giggle. I'm glad you liked the chapter even without it being a tear-jerker. It was more an anger fest from Severus and a time of pondering for Harry. Baby steps indeed. And, Severus is up next to continue on with Harry staying after to brew the potion, so that should be fun and we'll get to see why Severus did take the little step. Well, I think we already know [whisper, whisper...check the title again]. :) I already finished all my shopping so I am not too stressed, although this chapter did take a bit longer than has been usual because i've been making preparation for our church Christmas party tomorrow. I'm on the activities commitee so I have been sort of swamped of late, but I'm also so obsessed with this story that I'm gonna make time for it, even if instead of dinner tomorrow night, they all get copies of my story!
