Okay, finally made it over here, re-read this for the millionth time and that line still gives me tears and chills... "I am coming with you" *sigh* The more I read that last line the more I have to smile. The image of Harry collapsed on his father's bed, his head laying right next to his fathers chest...Severus, who I am certain is still quite weak, lifting his hand to rest it on harry's head... *sigh* Powerful, Powerful stuff Tabitha!!!

This really was the perfect length; it showed just what we needed to be told. So, thank you for another amazingly quick update. I'm glad that I even checked P&S...I wasn't expecting a new chapter for a few more days, although I suppose yahoo did suggest differently. Ok, chapter: I am very pleased with how it all played out but am also concerned about Harry. It seemed to take more out of him than he (and even you) suggested taking care of his dad over that week. But hopefully once Sev's healed (or tomorrow as he's not likely to stay in bed anyway) he can help Harry through it all. After all, Sev seems a changed man (again!) and I just know that he won't take any chances with not telling Harry exactly what he feels about him. However, it is heartbreaking that such a tragedy had to occur for Sev to realize this...but then again, that meeting with Lily went differently than any of us could have imagined.. Thank God for red-headed fiery women! I just loved Lily here. It was great to see her encourage Sev to return to Harry and explain that Harry will help him, that Harry forgives him. I just love her, she's perfect. I also agree with the general consensus that the storm/flame conversation was beautifully done. I loved the amount of emotion that you were able to convey through a relatively small amount of words...which means that your imagery is amazing. I'm truly blown away with its intensity. Will we get to find out what those memories were that Sev shared with Harry? Harry's desperation after coming out of his father's mind was tangible, as was his hurt, his fear; I was dying in those moments...and than that hand and the one word uttered from those lips made me want to collapse with, not relief, but a release. *sigh* And Sev's eyes now are a pale black, almost grey. So, thank you for this. I do feel genuinely better now than I have in a while from reading these chapters but now I'm filled with worry for Harry too. But I can deal for a few days or weeks if you need the break, you deserve it. Have a good weekend and thank you for this end of the week present!! *hug* How many more do you want? *hug* I've got pleanty stored up just for you...*hug* Author's Response: I really struggled with this lengh. I have tons more written I couldn't decide where to end it. Because that part was so short but decided after much tossing and turning that that's exactly as it needed to be. I just wanted those two things together so I'm happy it seems to have worked. :o) Oh, our dear Harry is going to be drained for sure. He was been basically a ball of pent of hurt for a week now and really more than that as he was waiting around for Halloween as well. Poor guy, but you're right...Sev's not likely to just sit around and let Harry flounder. LOL That experience truly did change Severus. So, even though it was extremely painful for him, for Remus, for Dumbly and yes, for all of you...they and you will be the much better for it. I promise. :oP Well, Sev didn't need any encouragement about the going back part but just reassurance that Harry would still love him and forgive him and that she forgave him too. He decided the moment Lily told him he could return, he was gonna return! There's no way he would have even thought about leaving his boy. (read yahoo group for more ramblings if you like rambling) Thank you so much for the compliments about being in Sev's head. That is my favorite scene so far. I love it so much so I am so thrilled that everyone seems to have enjoyed it so much and that they could really feel it. Yay! Memories...you'll have to wait and see. They have a lot of talking to do. Release for Harry too as that's what he's doing right now as he just lets it all out. And I'm so excited excited you noticed his almost grey eyes. So warmed with love. Awww. You are very welcome. I'm glad you feel better after that emotional roller coaster. It's been a tough week for me too! I'm drained. LOL
“I want to take care of you”, “...you will not have to do it alone…I will be there with you…for all of it,” his father promised, and Harry wanted more than anything to believe him. “You believe I would be with you as you face Voldemort and then abandon you to your Muggle relatives?” he asked, his mouth turned down in disbelief. “Ah,” his father said as understanding dawned. “You do not believe the first either.” Severus nodded quickly as his eyes went blank. “I have earned your mistrust, of course.” When Harry would have argued, his father shook his head. “Do not deny yourself your hesitancy. You may take as long as you need until you begin to feel secure. I am not going anywhere.” Harry has been on his own a long time. And none of the adults around him have been reliable or constant however good their intentions. Harry has taken huge steps in starting to believe in Snape especially considering their history. My favorite part of these chapters was when Harry told his Dad if he was with Lily and happy there - he could stay. This is so Harry - as Dumbledore says he is remarkably selfless. But his feelings underneath the words also make him human and recalled to me his fight with Remus in DH when he stated, “Parents shouldn't leave their kids unless – unless they've got to.” You rarely see Harry publicly emotional about the loss of his parents – but clearly he feels the pain of abandonment even if he knows it was against their will. You've been awfully cruel to Harry. Until now, nobody has kept their promises. Dumbledore, Snape and Lupin all said Lupin would be fine and that didn't turn out well either. So I am very relieved that Snape seems to have returned to the land of the living. After the loss of Lily, James and Sirius, his loss of complete trust in Dumbledore, his near loss of Lupin, if Severus chose to stay with Lily I'm quite sure Harry would never count on adult to be there for him. And even if Harry could forgive Severus and Lily for preferring to be happy together than to help him - I am not sure I could. Author's Response: Okay. I am planning on posting an in-depth thesis (well whatever you wanna call it) on this after-life subject with Sev and Lily on my yahoo group in the next few days but here's the thing. In my little world, passing beyond the veil isn't the same as being in this life. And time doesn't pass the same way. Severus did not prefer to be happy with lily. As soon as he"heard" harry, he was filled with grief that Harry was asking for him. And then when he realized he could return, he didn't even hesitate. He hugged Lily and asked for her forgiveness for choosing to go back to Harry. And Lily was more than happy to let him go. Sev didn't know he could leave. But, more on that later. And Sev hasn't gone back on anything...more on that later as well. :oP And lots more on the pain of abandonment as well. LOL I loved your review. So well thought out and addresses some important issues....issues I can assure you will be dealt with. This story has a very long way to go! Thanks for your thoughts! :o) |
