Good for McGonagall! Snape giving Harry “The Talk” is always entertaining.

A very entertaining chapter! The image of McGonagall having a fit at the breakfast table was just sooo amusing - I could definitely see. And Severus dreading having to have A Talk with his son concerning his girlfriend... ^^ Poor guy!

    Wonderfully done. Love it!

Wonderful as always. I know that I said that I liked the other better but I was wrong.

It is going to take a lot to get Harry out of his depression.

Personal note: my yahoo is acting wierd. Will you let Cathy know that I will toast a glass of my mead to you and her. My husband makes wine and mead - but the mead is best.

    Author's Response:

Thank you so much.  LOL  That's all right.  My favorites change with each new post.  :o)

Don't worry, Severus will keep working on him.  Sure, I'll definitely let Cathy know.  I'm sure she'll be delighted!  LOL  Thanks for your review and so glad you enjoyed the chapter!

I'm really eager to learn more about the charm, you know that, don't you? It was really interesting to see the flashback, but it's just whetted my appetite for more info.

What a horrible nightmare for Harry! Thank goodness Severus could be there to comfort and reassure him. I imagine their in for a lot of long, sleepless nights, though. Seeing someone you love being tortured and almost killed is a really awful, earth-shattering thing...and then there's poor Severus who actually had to go through it. The saving grace is that he survived and he and Harry are together now.

On the other end of the spectrum, I had to grin at Harry having to admit that he had been eavesdropping after all. And kudos to Severus for taking it in stride.

One part that really stood out for me is when Harry agreed not to tell his friends any more about the charm. To me, it shows how deep and real the love between father and son has become. Before, Harry wanted to tell his friends stuff because they were his only family...the only people he really trusted. Now that's not true. And it's not a slight to Ron, Hermione, and Ginny...Harry will always love them dearly, they're more than just friends. But they aren't all Harry has anymore. He has a father now, too, and he understands that the love and trust between them is precious, and that he can trust Severus with anything. Well, anyway, to me, that just seemed like a significant point.

I'm enjoying seeing the slow build-up of Remus and Severus' friendship, and Minerva did indeed redeem herself. After reading your last author's note, I'd already decided to forgive her. I can forgive almost anything as long as she's just being protective of Harry.

I would most definitely not want to be Septimus right now. I expect there will be nothing left of him but a puddle of Septimus goo after Severus finishes with him.

And Harry and Ginny are wonderful. Now Severus just needs to be on a first name basis with Ron and Hermione, too! I think Harry needs to ask his friends to come down to the dungeons for a slumber party. I'd love to see Severus trying to handle all those Gryffindor teenagers!

    Author's Response:

LOL  Of course, I know.  I've got a plan!  :oP

Yes, it truly is a horrible thing to know that Harry has watched his father being killed.  Not good.  *shivers*

Yeah, Severus really has come a long way...not so far off that he would have lit into Harry for not only eavesdropping but for not being honest abou it.  Go Sev!

Yes, that is exactly what I intended for that little scene when Harry agrees to keep this Charm stuff just between them.  They definitely have a real bond of love and trust between them and you're right.  It takes nothing from his friends and in fact it shows just how mature Harry has become.  He knows the more information his friend's have, the more danger they are in.  And yes, Harry does trust his father now.  It's a beautiful thing.

I'm glad you were pleased with the whole Remus/Sev friendship developing and with Minerva as well.  Yep, she is protective of Harry and now Severus as well!  LOL  I am pretty sure Poppy had a litte chat with her right after her whole scene in Sev's quarters.  It was right after that that she blew up at the school.  LOL  She really didn't understand how much Harry loves his father.  But, Poppy set her straight.  :o)

No, you don't want to be Septimus. LOL

I'm glad you like Ginny and Harry.  Love them.  A slumber party.  LOL

Wonderful chapter, and a bit slow paced as well, just what I needed after the tension of the previous ones. Thank you!

Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed the easy-going chapter.  These two need some down time.  LOL

Great chapter once again...let the warm fuzzies commence!!

I really liked having the 1979 part in there, it helps to understand Lily's charm, but of course you've still got some info held back. Thanks.

I hated that nightmare, it was so realistic. Is Harry never going to be free of his memories? It seems not too long ago that he was still dreaming of Sirius falling through the veil, now he's got to watch his father die? But I suppose that night it turned out ok as Sev was right there to comfort him. And yay for Harry for giving an honest answer!! I knew he could do it! And see Harry? Your dad didn't even get mad at you! It's ok to tell the truth even if you think it might hurt, because chances are, Sev just wants to make sure you're ok and he wants to help you, but to do that he needs the truth! So, keep it up! I also loved the "Oops, so I was eavesdropping, sorry." But it was good to hear what Sev had to say...another piece of the puzzle..hmm..

I too liked how Harry realized that this was top secret information, that his friends would only be worse for knowing. I really hope that Harry does not tell, even though I don't think he's really inclined to defy his father. But I could see him accidentally letting something slip and having Hermione or Ron pick up on it and push for more...please guys, don't.

Hmmm...vacation in the safe home? Well, it's not exactly Disney World, but it'll work.

Awww...it's almost like Sev and Remus are friends now! I think they are and at least Sev realizes it even if he isn't admitting it to himself. Remus of course knows and is trying to coax more out of Sev, I think...love those guys!!

It was interesting that Harry felt guilty for not thinking about Ron, Hermione, and Ginny after all that had happened with Sev...but Harry's still not back to normal and I guess that's understandable that he would continue to blame himself for everything. Come on, Harry! It's not your fault and Hermione, Ginny, and Ron have already forgiven you for not being in touch over the past week, they understand that you want to spend time with your dad now that he's here.

I was really glad that Remus was so kind during lunch, being able to restrain himself and let Harry and Sev hash out the eating issue. Go Remus! I know I wouldn't have been able to do that at all!

Any chance we'll get to see the contents of that note?

I love the father/son dynamic when Harry and Sev are brewing. They're so much fun, joking and enjoying each other's company as well as making potions together...aww...(more please!!)

    *sigh* Ginny...she's perfect...

Again, I must comment on the Hufflepuff slur...you're too funny!

And Professor McGonagall...that's amazing! Finally she gets involved with Harry and Gryffindor! And for a Slytherin!! (Although I suppose it's justified, as there was a lot of hexing in the halls...not a good time to be a student at Hogwarts (or a teacher, I suppose!))

I too am anxious to see what happens to Septimus...poor stupid Slytherin...I don't know him too well, in case you were wondering.

Yea! Photo album!! Also loved the "Leave the door open" along with, "He sounds just like my mum," I wonder, did Sev hear that last comment?

“I don’t know how to explain it, but I think I actually did do something for him. He came back so I wouldn’t be alone anymore. Because I needed him. I don’t think he’s felt needed for anything since my mum died,” I loved this...it was so beautiful...

Also Sev being so nervous about Harry returning to the Tower. But, that might just do more harm than good, Harry has to face the real world (or atleast the rest of Hogwarts) sometime and him staying down in Sev's quarters isn't going to make matters better. I'm just afraid that Harry'll find out that Sev doesn't want him to go and just end up staying...not good. Although I don't think that Harry will be ready to leave as soon as Sev thinks.

Hehe, Sev having "the talk" about Ginny with Harry...too much!

Love, love, loved Ginny's "You can call me Ginny, sir." Yeah! Makin' Sev speechless!! That's not easy!

Geez, this was just such an amazing chapter, I can't wait for the next one!! Have a great weekend!

    Author's Response:

Did I leave something crucial out?  I hadn't noticed....

Harry does have issues with nightmares, doesn't he?  Free of his memories?  Not likely, no.  Even Sev suffers with his.  Not to nearly the degree that Harry does though.  But yeah, Harry does have Sev there with him so that's all right.  You're so funny. I'm glad you enjoyed the whole Harry telling the truth thing and Severus just not saying anything at all about it.  This dude has really changed, hasn't he?

No, Harry is not going anywhere near defying Severus (well, not for long time anyway) and Harry has his dad now and really gets it that his friends are in danger if they know.  Growing up, our boy.  Awwww.

    Yep, vacation indeed.  Yips!

LOL  "almost like they're friends".  Well, they are in Remus' mind and if you noticed, he was teasing Severus and Severus, though not returning the banter like he did with James, he didn't try to strangle him!  LOL  He's getting there.

Harry feels guilty for everything.  He takes too much on himself.  He's always done this.

Remus is the best, isn't he?

I love them brewing together too, joking and being so comfortable around one another.  And yes, lots more Ginny.  I love her.  *sigh*

Yes, we Hufflepuffs are a tad emotional.  LOL

McGonagall finally sees what the others are seeing.  Severus loves that kid.  About time!  And yes, hexings in the corridors a bit of a problem.

Septimus will be dealt with.  LOL

LOL  No, Sev didn't hear the mum coment.

Oh goody, I'm glad you enjoyed Harry's musing on his father needing to be needed.  That choked me up when I writing it.

Harry is definitely not going to be any too anxious to go but I really don't think that's a bad thing.  Remember that all the other kids have 11 years of living with their parents an Harry's never had that.  He can face the world while calling his dad's quarters just as well as Gryffindor Tower.

Oh yes, the talk is coming.  LOL

Ginny is great with Severus Love that.

    I loved this chapter !
And there was something odd, too... i was not sure I wanted to tell about this, that sounds a bit weird... I saw on a review or on your yahoo board your explanation about how Harry promised to be good when he wanted his father back, and the fact that it is a common grieving. When I read that, my mind snaped at the words I had when my father died, just a few minutes after, when everyone left and I was alone with him, I told him I would always do everything so that he would be proud of me. But I didn't really, that's how life goes, and I always felt guilty for ' lying'. And then reading your answer I realized, somehow... that's ok, I suppose... he probably know I'm doing my best anyway, doesn't he ? ;-)
That is so strange. Fanfictions sometimes put us through strange moments... well, life, somehow ;-)

Author's Response: Yes.  I know just what you mean.  I have been wracked with so much guilt, thinking that I've disappointed my father as well.  I thought a lot about this as I read this chapter.  And yes, Just like Severus in this chapter...he knows just like your own dad and mine that we are doing our best.  I'm positive your father would be very proud of you.  I'm so glad you can find some sort of strength in this story.  You can't know how much that means to me.  :o)
