I probably reviewed this over at fanfic, Yab, but I just had to say that I could read it with impunity this time because I now know what happened. But even so, the ending of this chapter is very powerful and heartwrenching.

I also adore how you ahve described HArry and Severus' emotions and actions when they are sitting outside the tent. Severus' love for his son just oozes out of the words and envelops you in its intensity. It is truly beautifully written. Harry's contentment in his father's protection and love is also very, very believable.

    Nooooooooooooooooo
Remus can't be dead! Can't be. Dammit. Poor Tonks. HBP all over again. I think your going to make me cry. Its like watching a car crash in slow motion, i keep reading it again and again, thinking maybe i've read it wrong and that he wan't hit.

Hmm. On a lighter note, i love this part, its so soppy:

“I wanted the Hat to choose Slytherin,” his father spoke through the howl, his voice sounding as though it would crack if he didn’t close his mouth. Harry stared at him. “I would not have admitted it, but I wanted you to be mine again…as soon as I saw you.” Harry put a hand on his father’s arm. Severus’ fingers closed over his. “If I had known…” he whispered.

And Harry understood. “I’m yours now,” he reassured his father, not at all surprised at how fragile his father really was. His dad pulled his arm from under Harry’s hand and reached it quickly around his shoulder. Severus pulled Harry to him. Harry smiled as he felt his father's lips press once, very quickly against the top of his head. And then father and son sat in contentment one last time.

You really like plunging into the human soul don't you, and oh you do it so well. This story's like a bloody emotional rollarcoaster, you don't know where the hell your going to end up. And somehow i don't think that your anywhere near the top yet with this. Ohhh i can't wait to read more.

Author's Response: You just totally made me grin!  So thanks.  :oD I am so glad you enjoy the craziness that I love to indulge in.  I do enjoy plunging as you say.  It's all about psychology to me.  The mind and the heart.  I hope you enjoy the rest of the story.  :o)  And sorry about Remus.  Poor Tonks.  :oP  That part that you picked out is my favorite scene in the whole story so it thrills me that you liked it so much.  Thanks for the great review.  :o)

Okay, I cannot believe you left us on such an evil cliffhanger! It is truly evil, you know that, don't you?

We started the chapter all tense and worried, and then got to relax slightly as it was only muggles (hope they're safely out of the way now), and the guys left the house, and whammy! You left us with that ending!

I absolutely loved the talk between Harry and Severus as they waited for Bill and Remus, btw. Especially when Harry told Severus how he could have been Slytherin and Severus admitted that he had wanted that, had wanted Harry to be his again...that brought tears to my eyes, and more than ever when I read the 'one last time' phrase. Hopefully, you meant only temporarily and not one last time as in forever, because I don't think I could stand that.

Now I'm off to read more!

    Author's Response:

I love to be evil.  It's just fun.  :oP

That talk outside the tent is officially my favorite of the whole story.  It is everything that they are now.  I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much.  :o)

    Wow, you're really evil.

(I had to do, I just had to...and nobody will understand this but OE and that's okay. Because you don't have to understand why I wrote that phrase to agree with me. It's true. Somebody grab her and hold her down, while I roll up her sleeve to look for the tell-tale tattoo. On the count of three...)

Back to more serious things, because this was a chapter with such a dire overtone. I was dying to read it and afraid to read it all at the same time. I looked forward to it because I enjoyed the other action packed scene with the fight with Pinth a great deal, and it shows OE can really sink her teeth into action-filled drama as well as tender moments. I knew this would be good. And yet, as much as I truly looked forward to those scenes, and I got them and enjoyed the heck out of them, I was surprised they were not my favorite moments. More on that to come....

So it was Muggles causing all the ruckous. We wouldn't get out of it THAT easily....I knew there would be other tricks up OE's sleeve later(laying on top of the Death Eater symbol tattooed on her arm). The momentary verbal sparring between Severus and Remus as to *who* was investigating downstairs was fun...I didn't know who was going to win but good for Remus for doing so.

Oh Harry! You did so good following orders! I'm proud of you too. (Don't know if you can keep it up...but try).

The crystals are the coolest little invention. I feel I should come up with something better than the word "cool" to describe them, but words fail. They're just "cool." Your genius astounds me yet again.

Here's where I was taken off guard. Because I'd forgotten how OE can give me a deeply touching moment with so few words. But it's the way she uses those words that can either make my heart stop, cause an emotional tear, or make me laugh. I got all three in the middle of the action. I should have expected no less, of course. But she's brilliant at the surprise of it. And it's one of the reasons this story is my absolute favorite right now.

The first of those came with:

"You are my son,” the words bringing a soft tingle in his chest, as they always did. “I will protect you until I no longer have the ability.”

I doubt I could even explain how that touched me. Maybe because I'm a parent, and our "babies" are always our "babies," or the sentiment was just so heartfelt in and of itself. But I loved how Severus said it and that he did.

Then it can turn around in a second and OE can make me giggle. "You cannot out-Slytherin me, Harry." ROTFL. That was a riot. I love how Severus can stay in character and be so sarcastic even in tension filled scenes.

Then I went from giggles to chills because Harry started creeping me out again. The effect that being in this house is having on him - from his coldness and the insights - make my blood run cold. I'm as nervous as Severus by it. Brrrr! And Harry's storm turning icy by it is an eery visual. I can "see" Sev's flame trying to melt it...fantastic use of imagery again.

I now have a new favorite scene from this story, and it might be hard to beat. I cannot express how much I enjoyed Severus and Harry sitting outside the tent having their talk. It was amazing. I needed the tissue box. And your statement, which I had never considered before, about the emotional states of all the houses being equivalent, is true! That's an amazing insight...and it stuck with me. But more so, it was the last few lines of that conversation that will rate as my favorite exchange between Severus and Harry:

“I would not have admitted it, but I wanted you to be mine again…as soon as I saw you.” Harry put a hand on his father’s arm. Severus’ fingers closed over his. “If I had known…” he whispered.

    (And Harry answering...)

“I’m yours now,” he reassured his father, not at all surprised at how fragile his father really was.

(Taking a tissue break now....give me a second...)

Okay...back now. I loved it. Can't say more. Harry seeing Severus fragile is rare, for him AND us. The comment on how they sat in contentment once last time just leaped out at me, like it was flashing like a neon sign. And I just felt like I should start grieving for them or something. Amazing and so sad and brilliantly written.

Then I feel my blood pressure rising because the action is suddenly here again. Severus watching out for Remus by telling him to "get out of there" was so telling. He won't admit it, but they are friends. I don't want it to be ex-friends, OE!!! Not Remus, not Remus....(hides eyes....hates when those green curses show up). And if anything happens to Remus (or anybody) the ramifications to Harry will be too horrible to consider. I hope he won't go do something brash to save the ones he loves either.

So that leaves me with the hug. I didn't award one last chapter...I saved it for someone who might need it this chapter. I *could* give it to Remus, hoping that might save him from certain death. But instead, I'll give both to OE. For BRILLIANT writing as usual, and because we are all calling her evil and maybe two hugs will counteract some of it. ;-)

    Author's Response:

Yes, evil, I know.  *sigh*  Must I keep repeating myself?    Oh, and here's my arm *holds out dutifully*  Oh, oops, how did that get there?

Thank you.  Glad you enjoy my action-y scenes.  I love them as well, though nowhere near as much as Father/Son love fests.  LOL

    Muggles...  Hmmm

Remus is really getting feisty, isn't he?  He needs to be to deal with Severus though, I suppose.  LOL

Harry done good.  I don't think Severus is about to throw him away again.  Here come the Death Eaters.  They need to be close.  And I am not sure Severus would even think of trying now.  Harry demonstrated that he isn't a complete hot head so we'll see how it goes.

Glad you liked the crystals.  They need something to make sure they are who they say they are.  Polyjuice can come in just a little too handy.

I'm so stoked you liked Sev's declaration that Harry will always be his baby.  LOL  Harry needs to take that to heart and I think he sorta did by the end there.

Hee hee.  glad you got a giggle from Sev's gentle snark.  LOL

Harry SHOULD be creeping you out.  yep, big time.  Thanks for the compliments about the imagery.  Ice...so much ice.

The scene outside the tent is my favorite as well, perhaps of the whole story.  I can't really stop myself from reading it over and over.  I am in love with these two so much. I'm so happy you loved it just as much.  :oD

Oh Harry is well aware that when it comes to him, he is exceptionally fragile.  He has no doubts about that.  Severus is a paragon in everything else.  With Harry, a puddle of goo.  LOL

Well, yes, you should begin the grieving process....  I admit it.  Life is not going to be kind to them.

I am blushing.  Thank you for being so nice with your words.

Harry will not deal well with Remus' dying.  He just won't.

    Thanks for the hug!  All this evilness comentary is giving me a complex.  ROFL  {{hugs}}

And then father and son sat in contentment one last time?!?!!

What is that supposed to mean?

    And poor poor Remus....you're mean.

But that doesn't mean you shouldn't update soon.

    Author's Response:

LOL  I'm glad you still want an update.  ;o)

Well, they aren't exactly going to get to have a lot of chances to be sitting around chatting it up, are they?  Death Eaters just surrounded them.  Poor Severus and Harry.  Poor Remus.  Poor Voldemort.  Poor Everybody.

    Thanks for the review. :o)

I have simply one word for you: Evil.

Feeling a little peeved and evil myself, I'd really like to simply stop the review right there, but alas, I must think through this chapter...evil.

First of all, good job Harry for staying put. Second of all, good job Remus for keeping Sev and Harry out of danger. Third of all, good job stupid muggles for being a bunch of dunderheads!! I'm really glad that the DE didn't show up here, that it was just a simple problem like dumb muggles...but I have a feeling that this isn't going to happen again. *sigh*

Do we know anything special about these crystals? Why doesn't Harry have one, and why do they never ask for reassurance of Bill's identity?

And I may just be getting confused in my terrible thickness, but weren't there supposed to be other Order members (mainly Moody) there, surrounding the house? Where did they (or just he) go? I think something fishy's going on...

Semi-random question: Did Sev ever put the sticking charm on himself and Harry again?

Hmm...Harry's being affected by the house?...

“Ron would soil himself anyway if you offered. And Hermione would probably be too nervous to actually do it…” He studied his father. “And that’s why you won’t offer,” he concluded, his voice thoughtful.

    Loved those lines...

And this whole conversation in general, it was refreshing to see them be father and son again, to express doubts and feelings, but it was strikingly different from the tense mood that surrounded them...and that's really sad, that they need to have these great moments only moments after such a great and terrifying scare, because they don't know how much time they have left.

"And then father and son sat in contentment one last time."

Thanks for pointing this out, OE's mom, I missed it on the first go through. Hmm...this doesn't have me as worried as I think it perhaps should. To me, this simply means that they won't be able to share any moments of silent contentment anymore...that doesn't mean that they're going to die...actually, I think this is evidence to the contrary, because they could only be content beyond the veil (IF, and that's a big IF, Sev can separate Harry from Voldie...but if it's true that Harry and Sev's connection is so strong that Voldie wouldn’t be able to tell them apart...they could work together to remove Voldie from the picture.)

I'm really thinking Bill's an imposter...or Remus, Sev, and Bill are simply unobservant...which worries me.

But ok, so, there's got to be another spell that has a green flash associated with it, right? I mean, there's only 7 colors that the human eye can perceive, so there's got to be some overlap...I hope so. I think I know how much you love Remus...and although it makes a bit of sense now, I don't know how his death is going to help out Harry in the future...unless you want him to run away and try to do this all on his own, as I don't think he would allow himself to be near Sev with the possibility there of him getting hurt. But then again, Harry can't apparate, so he won't get far. Geez, OE, don't do this!!! But, it seems as though you already did, "Deadly curse"...green light...

    Evil.

    Author's Response:

You find me evil?  I am taken aback.  Shocked by this news.   I never realized you thought this way.  *strokes left arm lovingly*

Harry did done good, didn't he?  Good boy, Harry.  And yep, Remus is the greatest friend ever.  Nope, no more Muggles, that's for sure.

The crystals glow the correct color if they are touching the right person.  Harry does have one but he hasn't been separated so you haven't seen his.  Bill showed his ID in chapter 50 when he first showed up.  I didn't go into details though as I was waiting for chapter 52 to do that.  And he did ID himslf to Remus when Remus left the tent and when he was finished up with the Muggles...you just don't see it.  And he's with Remus and invisible at the end so he wouldn't ID himself.

Moody and Shacklebolt are on the grounds, yes.

Something fishy IS going on, but you'll have to wait and find out what.

He doesn't need to put it on; it was never off.  It would  have unstuck itself had Severus left, but he never took the step away from Harry behind the curtain becaues Remsu yelled at him to stay put.

Affected by the house?  No, he isn't. ;o)

Glad you liked the calling Sev by his first name lines.  He gets Harry's friends.  Isn't that lovely.

I'm glad you like the conversation outside the tent.  I had fun with that.  "And then father and son sat in contentment one last time."  yes, you make a very good point, PK.  they would be content beyond the veil, woudldn't they.

I don't think Sev is unobservant.  Remus perhaps, but not Sev.  Now if he's distracted...

Well, I never claimed that Remus' death would help anyone, now did I?  *evil*   And yes, I do love Remus.  I really really do.

Thanks for the review, PK, especially as you are not amused.  LOL  :oP
