Reviews For Lily's Charm

Remember in that last review when I wasn't sure if my heart was breaking more for Harry than Severus? Harry definitely wins this round, because I want to seriously smack Severus in the back of the head (kind of like he did to Harry and Ron in the movie when they were talking in class).

Don't get me wrong...he had me seriously boo-hooing for a minute or so. The line inspired by KimSpiritTalks was a heart wrencher. Right along with touching Harry's forehead. Oh, the angst! Darn it, my computer tissue box is out of hankies. Got to remember to get a new box.

But then he had to go right along and ruin it by being so snippy with Harry and trouncing off at the end. Smack, smack, smack!! Naturally, I don't expect our surly potions master to do anything else other than what he did, and would have kind of been annoyed if he got all cuddly all the sudden (so thanks for keeping him in character!) But I still want to smack him anyway. That's just me, hee hee.

Hermione's over enthusiastic cushioning charm...what a riot. And Lupin's comment to Severus "about someone who actually cares." OUCH!! But, he kind of deserved that, didn't he? I love it when those two snipe at each other. And I giggled when Pomfrey calling them "boys." Too funny. As funny as Minerva telling Severus that he WILL show up for dinner. I just love that witch.

Poor Harry is doomed because Severus has told him not to tell his friends, but OOPS! They already know! That's going to go over like a lead balloon.

More chocolate frogs coming your way. Does it make you write faster?

And pouting because I can't watch the movie yet because I think I'm getting it in HD format for a Christmas present, sigh...

    Author's Response:

I have told you how much I like you, right?  :)

First of all, OOTP is my Christmas present too!  From my husband, although I am going to buy it for myself tomorrow, watch it a million times and then wrap it back up and open it on Christmas!  How's that for awesome?  LOL

Yeah, Harry really does deserve a hug after that ordeal, doesn't he?  But, I think, maybe Snape's response will at least give him somewhat of a clue...well maye if he has someone to help him translate for him anyways!  LOL

And, oh yes, Snape getting smacked a few times would be rather helpful, wouldn't it?  But, I'm sure he'll berate himself enough anyways.  Come on, the guy has to know he's over the top, right?  I'm so glad though that you liked the Snape-ishness this chapter. I was kinda worried people would tell me to just get on with the mushy-gooey already, but I just can't do it!  The angst is necessary first!

Hermione is priceless and I just couldn't resist her bungling up the charm and somehow, I picture Poppy being old and being the Healer when Sev and Lupin were in school.  Not sure why, either from Canon or some fanfiction I read, but I couldn't resist that one either.

Yep, Harry's indiscretion is bound to bring another round of angst for these two, isn't it.  Hee hee.

Don't worry, despite myself, the next chapter is already in progress.  I just can't help it...I'm obsessed!  Thanks for another review!

Well, I'm not sure how OOTP can inspire you as Snape got to be in it so little
    /:(
Loved this chapter. Fiercely protective Snape who cannot just state his emotions without spitting or hissing at Harry. Oh the angst!

    Author's Response:

All right, you caught me...the movie is not much likely to inspire me for this story, but I was trying to make you all think good thought since I might keep you hanging longer than usual!  :)

I love Snape and it really stunk that he didn't get much face time in the movie.  BOO! HISS!

Glad you loved the angst.  I was kind of nervous people would start getting annoyed that Harry and Severus hadn't just kissed and made up by now.  I want them too as well, but unfortunately they have other plans.  And, Severus was trying so hard too.  Poor guy.

Maybe now Harry can finally, really get it.  And hopefully, Severus won't shut him out.  I guess we'll see.  :)

First off, I love your Remus. He is such a gentle spirit, but definitely has an impressive protective nature when it comes to those he loves. Harry needs him desperately in his life.

Dumbledore is a manipulative old coot, isn't he? I have a feeling that he knows more about this situation than he's letting on. Snape and Harry won't be too happy if this is true.

Snape is an idiot for expecting Harry to pick up on all the nuances of the situation. Harry is sometimes completely oblivious to the obvious, so expecting him to realize that Snape wasn't trying to reject him is too much. He needs things put to him in a more obvious way ususally. That's why Hermione comes in handy so often.

And how sweet to think that Snape was the one sitting at Harry's bedside after the Quidditch accident. Harry actually caught on quick to that one. I really can't wait for more Snape/ Harry interaction with a little bit of Remus thrown in as well.

Thanks so much for the update. It was a great chapter...

    Author's Response:

Thanks!  I actually chose the whole smell of Snape thing because scent can be such a powerful thing and certain smells can bring back memories in a sharper way.  So, yeah that made it much easier for Harry to get a clue!  :)

Yeah, Harry is a bit dense sometimes, isn't he?  Snape does need to be a bit more direct so I think you'll be happy with the next chapter as well.

I'm glad you like Remus here so much.  I love Remus and really can't get enough of him.  Don't worry, he'll be around a lot more.  The next chapter should be up soon.  Enjoy and thanks so much for taking the time to review.  :)

I so love your style of writing, and this story is just brilliant!! I honestly can not wait for the next installment!

I must say that I thouroughly enjoyed all the agnst that occured here too, and it was quite the emotional rollar coaster! Hopefully, with the help of Hermione and Ginny (where would guys be without us girls?) Harry'll realize that he needs to talk to Severus, hopefully before their next potions class. I'm guessing that he will, however, since he knows that it was Severus who stayed with him in the Hospital Wing.

I really love how both those guys are so confused about what they want and expect from the other. It's truly heart wrenching to know that they both need someone but are convinced that the other can't and won't love them. I'm really glad that Severus realized that Harry's still the little boy that he spent so much time with and loved so deeply (I jumped up and down for awhile, clapping my hands together like a maniac, and am still a bit giddy!) hopefully he will be able to share some of those memories with Harry once they finally realize that the other wants to make a family.

I liked Remus' part in this whole ordeal and anxiously await his return. It was really smart to have Snape and Remus confront each other that way and then to have Severus show his 'weekness.' It was beautifully done and hopefully Remus can and will continue to be there for Harry until he gets this whole thing with Severus straightened out.

Dumbledore is a liar...I think. There's no way that he would have not known about Eileen!! ARGH! He's so frustrating, and WAY too cheerful. (Although in character, I think I would have punched him in his previously broken nose if I were Harry after Remus came through the floo.) Oh well, he knows what's best I guess and I have full confidence in you knowing what you're doing.

About Severus in the Hospital Wing...I can't wait to hear his thoughts!! Yay angst!! I hope you enjoy your week and have fun writing it! You truly are great at it! Until next chapter...

    Author's Response:

Thank you so very, very much.  And, yay, for another long review.  I just love 'em!

I'm glad you're an angst fun as well!  It's just too much fun not to write angsty.  And, I agree...guys would be lost without us!  :)  Aren't Ginny and Hermione wonderful?

Hmm...you'll have to wait and see what Harry is going to do now with this newest revelation.   There's still gonna be a whole lot of confusion and angst though, I can guarantee you that.

I'm so happy that you like the way both Sev and Harry are reacting to everything that is happening.  And, of course, it made me giddy to hear how giddy you were about Sev realizing Harry was really his boy.

Remus will be around lots more throughout the story.  I can't resist a protective Remus.

Dumbledore is a mystery, it's true.  We'll revisit him later though so never fear.  He's got lots to do in the meantime though.  :)

The next chapter will be up in a few days.  Enjoy.

(Lays on the floor emotionally drained after reading this chapter. And can't fathom how you're not doing the same after writing it).

Where oh where to begin? There are SO many juicy, gut-wretching, angsty bits in here - just the kind of writing I adore! Let's see....

I don't know whether my heart is breaking more for Severus or Harry. Severus sitting and reeling from the realization that the baby he loved is the teenager he loathes was incredible. It was as if I was seeing inside his heart, it was so well written. And Harry misjudging Severus' actions and reactions and taking them to be rejection, poor kid. I just need to hug them both now.

I knew immediately that Severus was using the potion for the reason he later revealed, but it was easy to see why Harry thought he was using it to deny their blood connection. It's going to take a long time for these two to stop misinterpreting each other's every move.

I'm with Harry; I don't believe Dumbledore for a minute. LOVED the protective Remus. And how he reassured Harry that James loved him.

Thank you Ginny and Hermione! I'm glad they could put some things in perspective for Harry immediately afterwards.

I'm sure we're going to hear (and feel) Severus' angst over Harry's accident in the next chapter. That should be some delicious writing by you and it's anxiously awaited.

Oh, and before I forget - as much as I would have also loved a big ol' AK of Severus' mother, I loved your curse equally as well. ;-)

Can I send you a crate of virtual chocolate frogs for this spectacular chapter? You're being amazing at updating with such speed AND keeping the quality of the writing high, which is truly appreciated because I HATE waiting for new chapters of my favorite stories. Thanks!

    Author's Response:

Okay, I just have to say, you are the awesomest!  (sorry...I know that's not a word).  I love your reviews because they are so long and then I get to think more about the story and babble on about it.  My husband does get a bit tired of hearing about it.  :oP

These past few chapters have been so very emotionally draining.  They are actually ver hard to write, they make me so sad.  But, I love angst, so I'll just have to bear the pain I guess.  :)

I couldn't decide either who I felt more sorry for.  Severus does have much to deal with, doesn't he.  He wants so much to have his little son back, but that's not even possible and so he has to figure out how to deal with what can be...if he'll let it.  Unfortunately, he's decided very stupidly that he won't even try to salvage the relationship. The man is just so emotionally handicapped, it's irritating!

And Harry, of course has so much emotional baggage as well.  He's been rejected or left by everyone who should have or did love him.  How can he help but feel like Snape could never care about him, especially given their history?  Good thing Ginny and Hermione are there, you're right about that.  I just loved that scene where the two of them were attempting to be delicate but wanting Harry to get a clue, already!

I love protective Remus too and of course it makes some nice tension between he and Severus, as will be illustrated more in the next chapter (which, you're right again...Sev will be in full angst mode in the hospital wing).

I'm glad you liked Sev's curse for his mother.  I thought for sure though the man was going to AK her, but well, the man has a mind of his own.  :)

Next chapter should be up in a few days again.  Thanks so much for reviewing!

Ah, revenge is sweet but what revenge will Harry get for five year of abuse from Severus? For once I would like to see Sev crawl on the floor begging forgiveness.

Author's Response: Now, that would be something to see!  Thanks for reviewing.  The next chapter should be up by tomorrow night!

Wow, great chapter! I can't wait for the dreaded father-son meeting that's coming up next!! Angst Away!

I'm really glad that Severus did think of Harry before he went and A.K.ed his mother. She didn't deserve to die, but to suffer as he did for her schemes. (Wow, I'm scared of myself now!) But Severus really did handle himself well. I'm certainly glad that he's decided to try and be a father to Harry, if not just out of his love for Lily. But hopefully soon, he'll find that he never stopped loving that messy little kid, either.

I really liked how he reacted, both in 1981 and 1996. Your characterization is amazing and spot-on! I just love this Snape and all the agnst that he has to deal with. I'm also glad that Eileen is alive, for I wondered in chapters past if she had died...but now she wishes that she were dead I bet!

Keep writing! I just can't wait to see how Harry reacts to Severus coming back!! YAY!

    Author's Response:

Okay, I just had to laugh when you wrote, "but now she wishes that she were dead I bet".  Don't know why really except I think I scare myself too.  I just LOVED having Eileen tortured for what she had done.  Sick, aren't we?  :o)

So much angst coming up in the next chapter!  I just love how everyone loves angst  so much.  It's so fun to write.

Thanks so much for the compliments about the characterizations of Sev in the two time periods.  It was good to have the split chapter and so much fun.

Thanks for reviewing again.  The next chapter should be up before the weekend ends.  Enjoy.

Well written. It makes sense that Snape wouldn't blame Lily and that he'd even believe that he had never really been worthy of her. It's particularly sad that as a young man he'd thought he had a son who loved him, only to "discover" that he wasn't really his son. I know you said in the Author's Note about Harry needing resolution, but I think Snape needs Harry as well. It's so easy for either of them to believe they aren't worthy of love.

    Author's Response:

    Thank you.

I'm so happy that you "got" the 1981 chapter with Severus so well.  I was using it for some part to try and explain why Severus didn't even fight against what Lily was saying to him...it was just so easy for him to believe that Lily would eventually reject him.  :(

And yes, Severus does need resolution just as much, if not a bit more than Harry as he's been suffering with this for so many years.  And, he'll explore his fear of rejection from Harry just as much as Harry will worry about the same attitude from Snape.  Tangled, tangled emotions and so very much angst.  :o)

I think she got just what she deserved! Keep up the great work.

Author's Response: Yes, Eileen definitely did deserve what she got.  Thanks for the review!  I hope you keep enjoying.
