Reviews For Mine by Blood
-P.G. Author's Response: Thank you very much. I'm glad you think that it is somewhat different, I'm aware just how many similar stories there are in the fandom and have tried to make this somewhat original in order to entice readers!
Author's Response: Thank you!
It's a little nitpick, but I don't think the word "old" fits in this sentence: "He quickly shucked off the heavy black clothing he wore at Hogwarts in keeping with his role as the “greasy old bat of the dungeons”" As you say in a later paragraph, Severus is only 23, so I don't think the students would call him "old". Maybe just "greasy bat" Author's Response: I'm glad you're liking the background.....there is a rather large family for Severus here - I don't know I just like the idea of him having a support network and just seriously evil parents. Plus I got rather bored when revising for finals and so created a whole family tree for him stretching back five generations and you will meet quite a few of them! Thanks for pointing out the nitpick - I completely see what you mean and don't know how me and my beta missed it...it will get changed!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you think it's unique....I do worry that it can seem rather like the many other Severus/Harry fics that are out there - many of which are much better that I could ever hope to write!
One thing, really: For an English person like Sev, or even an Italian learning English, the terms for grandmother and grandfather are far more likely to be Grandmum, nan, or grandmother, and granddad or grandfather. Grandma and Grandpa are really an American thing. Besides that I'm impressed. I would like to see more of this with the next update! Author's Response: Hey, thanks for the review - I'm certainly amazed by the compliments but very grateful so thank you! I did think about calling them grandma and grandpa but for some reason (and I don't know why) but it seemed to fit whilst I was writing it and so I decided to leave it at was. Besides, I'm English and I always called one set of grandparents grandma and grandpa and the other nana and grandad just to differentiate...just personal preference I guess! |
