Very good story. I enjoyed it. Wouldn't mind a sequel.

This is killing me here. I love that Snape is so amazing with the 'other' Harry but I can't help but think he's being too harsh on the 'known world' Harry. I love the one version but I hate him with the 'known world' Harry because that was just cruel. I hope that makes sense.

OMG, I can't believe I've never read this before! This is right up my alley because I adore time travel/plane travel fics! I really like how you conveyed how upset Snape is over loosing his son. It wasn't overdone, which is better than a soppy chapter. I don't think Snape would let his emotions show about it, at least, not in front of this new Harry.

    I'm off to read more!

I was recommended this fic by Aspen and based on that I just had to check it out. I am so glad I did. Your stories premise is very well done and I loved that we didn't have to read in confusion about what happened beyond chapter one (as can be frustratingly common with AU fics). I like your twist on the AU world, although I wonder what happened to James, but I am sure that is to come. So far I love your writing voice and the story flows nicely, all in all a very good beginning and I am going straight on to the next chapter I only stopped to give you my first impressions which overall is: Impressed.

    Cheers, Ava.

    Author's Response:

Thank you!  I'm happy that Aspen recommended it.

Sorry for the long delay in my reply.  I usually try to split my time between writing and responding to reviews, but the chapter work was taking quite a large amount of time.

I've heard that complaint about AU fics before.  I felt the need to spend some time on an explanation, as there might be readers who had never encountered the concept of AU before.  But it's like starting a story about a car chase by explaining how a combustion engine works.  It's relevant, if the reader is not familiar with cars, but get to the chase already!

Hi again. Still waiting for a new chapter in this story -- what's up? LOL -- sorry, don't mean to pressure you. But this is wonderful and more will be very much appreciates.

I really dropped by to say that I'm sorry I didn't post my rec of this story sooner, but at least it's up now.

You can go read it, if you wish, at

Your work is wonderful and I hope you keep it up,

    Aspen

    Author's Response:

No pressure, after the many new readers you sent to me via your recommendation?  (Thank you so much, by the way.)

I will post as quickly as I can--the next chapter is completed in rough draft form, but it's lengthy (lengthy for me, anyway--26 pages), and I have very little free time to edit.  I could use several days off from work just to concentrate on it, but unfortunately there are those bills to pay...

Thank you again for your encouragement and support.  I will do my best to get it posted soon.  And if you have any tips on how to edit super-long chapters, I'll take 'em.

I am LOVING this. The alternating known/parallel worlds are fascinating, though I have to keep reminding myself who's who, LOL. "This is Daddy!Snape with canon!Harry...."

    But the story is magnificent.

Do you mind if I rec this on my LJ and my yahoo group? It's truly wonderful watching canon Harry learn to have a father and canon Snape learn to have a son!

    Author's Response:

Aspeninthesunlight!  My favorite sneaky snarky snacky Slytherin!  I recommend "A Year Like None Other" to anyone who asks...and a few who don't.  ;)  You have no idea how thrilled I am that you reviewed.  It's fantastic getting words of praise from an author I admire so much.  I spent some time today basking.  :)

Of course you can rec it!  Feel free to e-mail me (via the "contact" link in my profile) if you have any questions or comments or...just want to dish about writing.  :)

    > I have to keep reminding myself who's who

It's the main problem readers have with the story.  I've been changing the chapter notes to make it clearer, but the back-and-forth chapters are always going to be a bit disorienting.  I compare it to the movie "Memento": it's confusing at times, but it's fun to be confused because the structure is so different and new.  *shrug*  Hopefully.
