Reviews For Never Say Remember
Author's Response: In reference to the last line, I'm guessing? ;)
It's been a long while since I've picked up your fic - I think I was with you around when you released Chapter 5 - and I've just sped through, dazzled by its shinyness. You've painted such an amazing Lily - she's warm, and funny, and I can't even find it in myself to pity her: she's healthy, happy, occupied with her job and her family. Her life is a lot brighter than many people's, regardless of her disability. I adore her humor: the bit about yellow raindrops having anger management issues because they were ignored middle children made me laugh aloud. I nearly *cried* right along with Snape at the wedding, and Lily showing her support to *Severus* instead of the other way around was the perfect juxtaposition - the idea the Severus is the damaged one, that Lily has to take care of *him* brings a marvelous symmetry to their relationship. I also am fond of Severus and Lily's Harry - he is very Slytherin in this chapter. Good on him for manipulating his way into Severus's life! Reading on, K Author's Response:
First of all, do you know how brilliant this is? I was floored by this chapter. I am so glad that Harry is away from the Dursleys! I was a bit scared for him over that. He's taking being away from his parents really well, but Harry's a brave little chap, so that's expected. I think my favorite part was when Harry claimed he would sit on Snape's doorstep and sing songs for hours if he wasn't going to let him in. That was priceless. I love this Harry. I can't wait to see how their relationship develops from here. This story is intriguing, and I nearly cheered when I saw that you'd updated it. Keep up the exceptional writing. I'm definitely looking forward to whatever's next--for either Harry ;) Author's Response: I'd like to think the story has moments of brilliance, but then I think I'm getting a swelled head. :D Seriously, it's great that you think so. I'd like to publish original fiction someday, and it's helpful to get such encouragement. I have a confession: I was reluctant to write the Dursleys. They weren't even in the original version of the chapter. I started the chapter with Harry arriving at Snape's. But after so many reviewers mentioned that they couldn't wait for the Dursley scene, I was like, uh oh. Guess I'd better write one, then. ;) And it turned out to be fun and exciting! They really added something to the chapter. Who knew the Dursleys could be so helpful? ;)
Author's Response: This was what I was alluding to in a review response 2 chapters ago (I think?) when I implied that I wasn't following the usual pattern of Snape rescuing Harry from the Dursleys. This Harry doesn't need to be rescued. He climbed the Whomping Willow! He was raised by a Slytherin! He's not going to let a bunch of Muggles push him around. I'm enjoying Harry's athleticism, too. I used to hate writing action scenes, but I've come to adore them when Harry needs to act. And they flow much better now, too. I love that fanfic is helping me grow as a writer. SO glad that Snape's grief and guilt were clear. To finally marry the love of his life, who has been damaged by HIS spell, all the while vowing that he will protect her...it would shatter him. I wanted to show that within the scene. If I had to go back and explain, it would have killed that scene for me. Thank you, perceptive reader! :)
Author's Response: Well, if you ever figure out why you originally skipped over it, let me know. I'd love to have new readers who might be skipping over the story right now. Come back, readers! I'll bake you cupcakes! It makes me smile to see someone's reaction to discovering the story. Thanks! Lily is tragic at times. I toyed with the idea of a chapter from her perspective, but it never fit. I just liked the idea of seeing the world the way she does: in pieces.
Author's Response: The wedding was sad, but wasn't it sweet for Lily and Dumbledore to help Snape through it? :) I'm amazed how many people loved the ending; I just thought it was a fun little twist. Thank you for the praise and the review!
Author's Response: Hmm, looks like that iced tea spewage caused a double-post. ;)
Author's Response: Hee hee, thanks. I enjoy being responsible for your spew. :)
Scorpia Author's Response: Thanks! Don't worry, more angst to come. ;) |
