Reviews For River of Dreams
BTW British people do not use the word 'gotten' so anytime a character uses it it screams that he is American and not British- and spoils the story a bit. OR has watched far too much American TV.LOL) Where Americans would say gotten Bbrits use got - and yes, although that would not be grammatical in American English it is correct in British English. Brits have not used 'gotten' for a few hundred years, it is now archaic in Britian. Also, the standard past tense of the verb to dive is 'dived' and not 'dove', and again, not likely to be used in Britain. There are several web sites that can be found if you google for them that explain these particular and other differences between British English and American English. The 'gotten' one is the most disconcerting difference that I've ever encountered though, it really sounds strange to British ears.
It's sad that Harry is so haunted by nightmares. It's sad for Severus, too, but Harry is just a kid, and totally innocent. I hope Severus can begin to see that most of Harry's 'adventures' were actually very traumatic, and forced upon him, not just fun escapades he dreamed up to relieve boredom. And I don't know about bathing in the Amazon River. I, too, have heard horror stories about piranhas, and I think I'd rather be dirty---and I'm almost obsessively clean!
