Reviews For A Shocking Discovery
Author's Response: Thanks for your review. It really surprises me though that people can so easily forget exactly what Harry has been through at the hands of SS for the last five years. Is he just supposed to have it all erased from his mind because Sev says he is now willing to make an effort. Severus doesn't even expect it to be that easy. As far as the Patronuses go. JK said in an interview that no two people's patronuses are the same. And no, Ron's Patronus is a Krup...a creature that looks much like a Jack Russel terrier. But if a person has died, then another person, emotionally attached to them may end up with the deceased's Patronus form. As for the sex reference. I wouldn't actually call it sex. Harry is a boy, Ginny is a girl and they are boyfriend/girlfirend. Thoughts will naturally become a bit heated on occasion, but I will not be getting explicit. Don't worry. No-one else has complained. And as we live in the real world, I think it is totally unrealistic to expect teens to be entirely pure in there thoughts and actions. ~Lesley~
Author's Response: Thank you for your review. Yes, Sev is new to the father thing, but Harry is also new to hte experience of being the son of a living person...a person, no less who has spent years torturing him. It is not going to be an easy transition for either of them, but I don't think it can be expected that Harry is just going to turn around and forget the last five years, especially as it is not going to be possible for Sev to turn into a nice person...at least, not all the time. HAry wants it to work...but he is very wary. Sev knows this.
As for the floo...you will just have to wait and see.

Author's Response: Hi there C Farrell, Thanks so much for both reviews. That's dedication for you. As for the spelling mistakes, don't worry about it. I usually assume that most spelling mistakes are typos anyway. I sometimes read back over my chapters and cringe because of the typos. Anyway, the question of how harry got to GH. He most definitely went on the Knight Bus, because remember in chapter 19 (I think), we see him getting off the Knight Bus just outside the village, near the sign for GH. And also, although we don't see it, DD, Sev and Arthur apparate away from Privet Drive to summon the Knight Bus and question the conductor and the driver. If Harry had not been on the Knight Bus, they would still not know where he went to. I am very glad you are enjoying the story so much. I have no plans for abandoning it, so I wouldn't worry. I might not update twice a week like some wonderful authors I could name, but I am fairly consistent with twice a month. I also have another story in the works that requires my attention. If you would like to see that, just go to my home page over at FanFiction.net. It is not a Sevitis, so I can't post it here, but Sev is still the major character. I hope to hear from you again. ~Lesley~
Author's Response: Thank you so much for your review. I agree with you. My Snape and Harry were never destined to be best buddies over night. That is really what my story is about...the very slow transition from bitter enemies to two people who eventually develop a tacit respect for who the other is and how he copes with the terrible things that happen in his life...and eventually real affection. If it is going to happen, it has to be slow because they have too much bad history together. It is not really an easy thing to write because I always have to make sure I am not making it too easy. I hope you continue to enjoy the results of my mental gymnastics. ~Lesley~
Author's Response: Thanks Alexis. Glad you enjoyed it. ~Lesley~
Author's Response: Thank you for the review. Yes, it was difficult to write. It is very hard keeping Snape in character when it is also necessary for him to be softening a little for the purposes of the story. My Snape is never going to be soft and fluffy...he wouldn't be Snape if he was, now would he. Until next time, ~Lesley~
I loved as well the awkwardness when Severus told Harry he shouldn't use magic because it's summer. Oh so awkward. It was great. I am very excited to see where this new agreement is going to take these two. I hope Severus can continue to keep his temper and allow Harry time to work through these huge changes. Can't wait to see what you've got planned next. Author's Response: Hi Tabitha, Thanks for the review. As usual, your words are very well thought out designed to make me think. Severus is certainly prepared to try to be a father and Harry has the same sort of worries as yourself. But he is not so much worried about Sev planning to do this for his own sake, but for the sake of Lily and because he has convinced himself that it is what Lily would want. This is certainly a major factor for Sev--he still loves Lily, but I think he had already begun to have these strange warm and fuzzy feelings for HArry ever since he saw him collapse in DD rooms following the poisoning. Of course, it took a very long time for him to acknowledge these feelings, and he would not stop to consider the consequences of casting AK if anyone called him warm and fuzzy. He fought strong and hard against any such softening. And to then make the discovery that has led to this monumental change in his life...well, it all just snowballed and he kept on finding himself worrying about our impetuous young Gryffindor. Our Sev certainly has his work cut out for him if he is going to succeed in reigning in Harry's more impulsive actions. Sev certainly thinks he is doing this for Harry, but of course there is a big part of him that imagines Lily's approval of his actions. As for telling Harry off for using magic...well, that was a calculated risk. My idea was that he decided to show Harry that part of parenthood is taking the hard line. And after Harry got over his rant about Sev not bothering to make an effort because he, Harry knew he didn't really want to, then he would have thought--when he went to the bathroom-- that even with the down side of being the kid in the equation and being told what to do and what not to do, it would maybe be worth it if this thing could work out. Harry is even more vulnerable now of course--he has shown just how desperate he is for a real family...even if that family is Severus Snape. he will be on tenterhooks for quite a time to come. I hope I can do justice to the situation. 'Talk' to you again soon. ~Lesley~ |
