Reviews For A Shocking Discovery
Author's Response: Hi villette1, No, I am afraid that I don't get all that many reviews here on P&S...only four last chapter. But thank you for this review. And yes, Albus's hand is fine and the curse has been countered. And let's hope Sev can find something more to smile about...maybe his son. Hope to hear from you again, ~Lesley~
Author's Response: Thanks Alexis, sorry that you missed Harry, but of course he will be back. I will update as quickly as I can. ~Lesley~
On a side point, I think if I had been asked to stir that potion, I would have been SOOO terrified that I would mess up! :o Yeekes. And nice foreshadowing about the Elder Wand, by the way. :) Subtle. Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing. I promise more Harry next chapter and yes, I agree...I think Harry did very well, considering the pressure. And yes, the elder wand had to come in somewhere. I think it is fascinating. Hope to hear from you again, ~Lesley~
Author's Response: Hmm, you did review this chapter over at ff. A wonderful testament to how much you enjoyed it. I thank you again. And i am glad that you like my depiction of HArry as a flawed young boy. That he has survived as basically kind natured and worried for others as he has is a small miracle' ~Lesley~
Author's Response: Thank you Lunaz
DD put the ring on because he was sorely tempted by the resurrection stone. And Minerva loves D so she will pay out on him and then get on with nursing him back to full health Glad you enjoyed the chapter, ~Lesley~
Author's Response: Thank you for your kind review. Glad you enjoyed it, ~Lesley~
But I'm persevering because I definitely want you to know that I enjoyed the chapter -- indeed, I'm enjoying the whole story. I particularly liked your scenes with Albus and Severus and the cursed ring in this chapter. Your explanation of the curse was so much better than canon. I also enjoyed the interaction between Severus and Harry in the potions lab. Harry's awe at Severus' potion making was very well done and makes me hope that perhaps now Harry will start enjoying potions and give it the time and effort to excell. I always felt bad that in canon Severus basically ruined all of Harry's interest in potions. The fact that Severus was patient when teaching Harry to stir and that Harry was so very careful to do it right is also a hopeful sign both for their relationship and for potions. Good job. Author's Response: Thanks JolisGSD, for a lovely, indepth review. And sorry about your troubles getting the review out. Aren't computers the pits sometimes? I'm rapt that you liked my explanation of the curse And the whole Sev and Albus interaction. I love writing the two of them playing off each other. And Harry is certainly coming to appreciate Sev as more than just that man who by sheer accident can call himself my father. Of course, he worries about Sev being summoned, but HArry is that type of kid and he would worry about anyone in that situation if he knew they really diodn't want to be there. But to actually begin to appreciate his father for his skills, especially when he has had no interest before, is a big step forward. I agree with you that Harry could have been interested in potions if Snape had of given him a chance instead of shooting him down in flames at every turn. He certainly started out wanting to excel. And Harry certainly didn't want to let Sev down by stuffing up, not when he knew how important the potion must be. Until next time, ~Lesley~
Author's Response: Thank you tabbycat, So glad you enjoyed it so much. And it is lovely that Sev can smile, I agree.
Hope to hear from you again,
~Lesley~
Okay, so I loved the whole potion-making part, and that they were working together so well. My favorite image (odd, though it may be) was when Snape had hold of the stirring rod still, and so did Harry and Severus was showing him the correct way to stir. I don't know why, but it brought such a sweet image to me, a father teaching his son. I really liked it. And then Severus shouting out, "behave!" ROFL That was great. And good for Harry for being so patient in the lab and following orders. I loved the spot about Minerva and Albus being together. I can't remember if you've ever mentioned it before in this story, but I like the idea. Cute. I can't wait to see next chapter, though I have absolutely no idea what you could have up your sleeves for us to enjoy. Great descriptions this chapter, Les. I really liked it a lot, even without a lot of Severus and Harry, it was great. Thanks! Author's Response: Boy, are you a speed reader or something? It hadn't even been posted for ten minutes! I knew it would be a problem not having much Harry in here. But unfortunately, this is the way it worked out. The scene in the lab just let everyone know Harry was still there, but I also wanted to show that Sev has much more to stress over than just Harry. As for Al telling Sev about the horcruxes...this is one of the things he has to ponder. As al said in DH, (and I paraphrase), 'it is hard to confide in someone who spends so much time dangling off the arm of his other master'...or something along those lines anyway. Sev is a formidable occlumens, but something could always go wrong. It is not an easy situation. As for Minerva and Albus...yes, I did infer they were a couple in about chapter 3. He calls her my love. They are quite affectionate with each other. It is not common knowledge, only their close confidants know...Severus of course, Poppy, Flitwick and Sprout. I'm glad you enjoyed it, but I know you want more Harry. Next chapter' ~Lesley~ |
