Reviews For A Shocking Discovery
Author's Response: Wow...another mini novel! LOL. Thank you so much, once again, for your compliments. You are really doing an awful lot for my ego. It is thanks to you that I finally got around to posting my last chapter. I am working on the next in between answering reviews.
I too love the idea of Minerva, the person rather than just the authoratarian. I love the idea of her and Albus as a couple. I think they would have grown into it slowly. They would ahve come to know each other very well and been very good friends for a long time. The romance would have crept up on them. I think Dumbles would not have felt comfortabvle with romance until Minerva would have been in her fifties. He is still a good deal older than she is...old enough to be her father in fact. But Albus Dumbledore is very young at heart and wizards can live to a very old age. Remember that Madam Marchbanks, one of the examiners when H R & H sat their OWLs was also an examiner when Albus took his OWLs. So she must be going on for two hundred!
Harry is frustrating, yes. But he is also still very insecure. He cannot believe that any adult, except perhaps for Molly and Arthur and Dumbledore can look at him and see anything worth liking. This attitude is ingrained in him. The Dursleys did a real number on him. Ten years...formative years...of being tolod you are nothing but a waste of space has to have left a lasting impression. And don't forget, Harry saw Severus being just as horrified as he was when he found out about their relationship. AND, Severus hated him with a passion for 5 years. Harry is too frightened at this stage to believe that this amazing stroke of luck...the fact that he actually does have a living relative besides Petunia...is real.
I love long chapters and I love long stories. I have never liked short stories. I always feel short changed. But on this site, I truly believe that most readers are happy reading two or three thousand words per chapter. Don't know why, really, except that reading storie on the site myself that get massive number of reviews are all much shortwr chaptered than mine. Of course, the majority of readers might just think that my story is crap...a distinct possibility. I need more readers like you Vicky. LOL.
Anyway, you have to take a pill and calm down a little bit. You will have a stroke if you keep on getting do het up.
Oh, and BTW...like long stories, I love long and detailed reviews also. So don't worry that I am cross-eyed or something reading your reviews. I love your enthusiasm!
You might think about working some paragraphs into your novels though...they would be easier to read when they are so long.
Till next time... Lesley~
Author's Response: Better late than never! Thank you Becca, for your LOVELY review.
Lesley~
Author's Response: Thank you for letting me know that you enjoy the story. well done on a marathon read. Chapter 36 will be uploaded within hours. Lesley
Author's Response: Thank you for letting me know that you have enjoyed the story so far. It would take quite a bit of effort to read through from the beginning, so well done. Hope to hear from you again. Lesley
I hope the lack of reviews isn't keeping you from updating. This is an absolutely wonderful story and I am enjoying it immensely. I hope all is well for you in RL and you can update soon. Donna Author's Response: Sorry that it has taken me so long to get back to you Donna, but I only just found this review. Somehow I managed to delete it from my in-box before I responded to it. Lack of reviews will not make me stop updating, I promise. And the response to my A/N has been telling to say the least. Many more reviews this chapter. It's a shame it doesn't happen without me having to beg though. Thank you for all of your reviews, though. Lesley.
Author's Response: Thank you for this review. Glad you are enjoying the story so much. Lesley
Anyway, i loved this chapter. I adore the way Severus looks to Albus for approval, and especially the bit at the end when he commented to Molly because he could feel Dumbledores dissaproval. Awww. Poor Harry though, so desperate for affection and security and completely unable to ask for it. My heart breaks for him. I feel for Severus too though, it comes across that he is making a huge effort. Hopefully they will solve their issues over time. I will be anxiously awaiting your next chapter! Please post soon? Author's Response: Thank you for your lovely review. I didn't know that you had to battle a security code to review. Why not just register with the site. It is not difficult. I had similar problems on another site and I ended up registering. If you don't want to register for whatever reason, I suggest that you copy your review, then if the stupid security code rejects you, you can paste it onto a new review panel. That's what I did on that other site, every time before I clicked submit, just in case it disappeared into the ether. When that became too much of a hassle, I just registered. You are under no obligation if you register. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the chapter. Lesley
Author's Response: I did not know that there was even a security code that anon reviewers had to battle. I had the same problem on another site and so I just registered with the site. It is not difficult to do and if you like to review, then it definitely saves a lot of time and effort. On the other site, I don't know how many reviews I lost because of that stupid security code. So, before I joined, I started copying the review before I tried to submit it, and if the stupid site told me I had the code wrong, well, I could just paste my original review into the new review box. Then even that became a pain and so I joined. Anyway, thanks for making the effort to leave this lovely long review. Sorry to hear about your back injury. Hope you are on the road to recovery. I have never heard of people NOT reviewing because a story is too well written. Some people like to point out mistakes, but most do it very politely and don't dwell on the negatives...thank goodness. I have one reviewer on ff.net who leaves a review for every chapter, but the only words he/she has ever written is 'update soon'. i must admit that that is very annoying. I would prefer well done, but as the person wants to read the next update, then he/she enjoyed the last. I take it that you like the character of Nott in canon. He is the pallid, stringy boy we first meet in Care of Magical Creatures and he is just as unpleasant as Malfoy and his cohorts, though not as vocal as Malfoy. I do mention him and his isolationist attitude in the first chapter, and the fact that he is also very angry that Harry landed his father in Azkaban. He is just not as vocal about it as Malfoy. And who else did you think he might want to kill, I wonder? Anyway, thanks once again. Sorry the upadtes are not as quick as you would like them to be. But I do have two stories in the works and have to address them both. I am making an effort to cut my chapter length down so I can get updates out there more quickly. Lesley~
huhu, it's a bit late, i'm going to bed and hope to see next chapter sooooooon =) thanks a lot !! Author's Response: Thank you for another review. Glad you liked this chapter better. I looked over the last chapter to try and see where you thought DD wasn't addressing the subject. He was very annoyed and he was pointing out salient facts about Sev's behaviour to Molly. It was actually HArry and Sev who told the main part of the story, and DD then added his little spiel about how Lily had studied the properties of Muggle blood and applied the principles to Magical blood. Molly was foolish, yes, but she was being a protective mother hen, I suppose. Molly is very volatile and leaps before she looks. She had seen Sev being nasty to Harry on the last few occassions she had seen them together. Sev is trying to be a father, but at the same time, he wasn't going to wear his heart on his sleeve in front of Molly. So he was a bit standoffish to Harry. HArry is still insecure in the relationship. As much as he thinks he has put the past behind him, Sev's past treatment would be something that would be dificult to lay to rest. And Sev already knows that Harry is never going to be a great proponent of Occlumency.
All Harry wanted Sev to say was that he would se HArry for supper, not to seem indifferent as to whether he came home or not. Lesley
The longer the chapters are the better from my point of view - I'm an annoyingly fast reader! Author's Response: Thank you kayt. Glad you enjoyed the chapter...what would a teenager be without a strop. LOL And he is Severus' son, so can't expect much better. He got Sev's temper, don't forget, not Lily or James' more placid natures. Glad you like the longer chapters. Lesley |
