This bit is brilliant. Knowledge is the only thing that can combat ignorance.

I did read a study that said, however, that the more educated a zealot becomes, the more likely they are to become even more zealtous - because they're searching for ways to argue against what it is that they're learning. And hearing the opposite point of view over and over again makes people more stubborn rather than more receptive.

Open-mindedness is its own virtue, connected to, but not the same as, being well-informed.

    -K

Author's Response: Most Zealots are converts to zealotry, which is to say they grew up in familes that don't believe as they do and became disenchanted with something about the everyday world.  Malfoy is a second generation zealot, and second generation kids like him actually often do become deconverted through information.  There is usually a period where their beliefs harden, but then they pass through it and start opening up to new ideas.  This is especially true after profound shocks, as the events of the previous year must have been.  (I have my degree in the social sciences, can you tell?)

I wonder if Hitler will put the fear in Draco?

Author's Response: *shrug* learning about him will certainly do Draco good.

Oh snap!! Stalk got back! HAHAHA!! XD Take that Draco, you little farret you! This last part made me insanely happy. Yes, Draco WOULD pick the book about Hilter...what's next, Stalin, the Man of Steel? *snort* I kinda hope it gives him nightmares.

And poor Harry and Snape getting all kinds of threats. :( That's never any fun. But I did think it was funny Harry didn't really know what to say to Snape so he told him about tossing the howlers out the window. XD SLAM! Poor Harry...but it was amusing.

But YAY!! Teddy's going to come back. YAY TEDDY!! I hope it's full of fluff. But then I always like babies in stories...I just not so good with them in real life. :S

    Another excellent chappie!

    Author's Response:

Stalk really does rock, doesn't he?  Draco won't know what hit him with that book.

Harry's at the point now where he's trying, but he doesn't know how to go about it.  If only it wasn't Snape.

I wrote the chapter with Teddy right after visiting my baby nephews, but it's not as fluffy as most kidfic.

Read the entire story for the first time. I'm sorry Ginny is a total git, I don't like her I was very disappointed Harry attempted to talk to her again. I’m sorry she had no right to spy on him; she had no right to shout out what she knew to everyone. Snape suffered for years as a spy for the light and after everything he deserved a new start a new life a chance to live a normal life... because of her he can't have this. Ginny claims she loves Harry but even if you are angry with someone you love you don't do things like this to them Eileen would never have ... Her actions have damaged Harry's reputation and destroyed Snape’s new life. If Malfoy should be expelled for talking to the press then Ginny should be expelled for everything she has done...her pranks were distasteful and she has shown she has absolutely no class what so ever – I hope Harry turns away from her, please Harry deserves so much more

    Author's Response:

This story cleaves pretty close to canon, including the epilogue, (the only difference is that I suppose Albus Severus would have a different middle name) so, I hate to disappoint you, Harry will get back together with Ginny.  Yes what she did was inexcusable, especially the spying itself.  She will come to her own mental and emotional reconciliation with this fact and grow up for it.  She still really is a child, and all the more so because everyone around her, including Harry, kept her deliberately childlike.

Her outburst in the common room was neither malicious nor planned.  I come from a family in which nearly everyone yells when we’re mad, and we yell exactly what we’re mad about for the whole world.  Because of this, no one in the family is ever angry for long, but dozens of hurtful secrets have been thus revealed.   Ginny is this way.  When she’s angry, things she doesn’t intend to say come out.

And I believe I did mention that Snape at least thought she deserved to be expelled several times over, but he couldn’t prove any of it, because no one who could would speak against her.

I rally have shown Ginny’s worst side in this fic, and Harry would deserve far better if that were her only side, but she does have others.  More importantly, she will grow up.

Very interesting chapter. I believe Professor Stalk was rightly sorted and I can't wait to see how his plan works out. Draco was quite pitiful in this chapter, but I like the fact that you seem to be moving towards him actually dealing with the prejudices that landed his family in the situation they are.

Author's Response: There are many sorts of ambition and cunning, aren't there?  I like writing Stalk out-Slytherin Draco, but this story isn't really about Draco, so I don't think I'll be writing much more of him in it, though I might have Snape make a snide remark about his new choice of reading material.

Oooh, can't wait to see what goes on with Draco next. And I am excited to see Teddy and Andromeda here. I am glad he made it up with Ron. Great chapter!

    Author's Response:

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.  Actually, I wasn't planning to write any more of Draco, and actually, I only have a few chapters to go.  draco isn't my favorite character to write.  I'm afraid you'll have to wait for the chapter after next for Teddy and Andromeda.

You know, as much  as I like conflict(it's a requirement, it is) I don't like conflict within the trio.  I'm glad they made up too.  Poor Ron and Hermione. they were trying so hard.

Malfoy is very interesting as a character. The last line especially was well written. Professor Stalk appears in a much clearer (?) light than when first we met him which is good. I like the idea of teddy coming into the story - make sure you do him well. But I think that Snape and Ginny are getting a bit tiresome - can't Snape get more interaction than just slamming the door in Harry's face the whole time? It's nice that Ron and Harry are back on speaking terms - you've written the trio well.

    Author's Response:

Oh don't worry, it won't end up as Bad!kidfic.  I have year old nephews, so I know how they act, but it will mostly be Harry, Andromeda, and Harry's conscience.

Snape and Harry will be back soon, and after the trip to Andromeda's, it will be almost entirely Harry and Snape again.  I'm gatting close to the end of the fic.

I continue to feel sorry for Harry and the way the wizarding world treats them. Between the Malfoy's getting off scot-free and the way they are treating Harry over his "son", it makes you wonder why he wants to stay in Great Britain at all.

Author's Response: Harry's just the sort of person to whom it wouldn't occur to him to move.  The life he wants and the people he wants are in Britain, so that's where he will stay.  Draco doesn't get away with it.  This sort of detention will be very hard on him indeed.
