Reviews For Slave Child
I read your author's note and I completely agree with you. I think Harry is behaving very much in character given the circumstances. As you say, he is definitely in survival mode. And you're right, he's in shock. A part of me feels very sorry for Snape. He is as stuck just as Harry is. He never asked for a slave invading his privacy. As a teacher, I keep asking myself how I would feel if I had to be saddled with one of my least favorite students---in my house, invading my life. I assure you, Snape has been injured just as much as Harry by Draco's curse. Author's Response: Thank you so much! From here on out, there should be a lot more interaction between Hary and Severus. I know what you mean about feeling sorry for Sev, too. The truth is, he didn't ask for or want Harry in his life, any more than the boy already was, and he's feeling very stuck and cheated, too, right now. And he'd never believe it if you told him that one day he'd be very grateful to have Harry in his world (though not as a slave...Severus will never want that for Harry).
Author's Response: Oh, thank you! And tell your son 'thank you', too. I'm really happy you both like it! And I know slavery is sensitive, and I would never condone it, but as I said in another response, I'm really thinking of Harry's case as more like someone whose life is changed by an accident or a disease, rather than a typical example of slavery. I'm trying hard to have Severus treat him as a person who deserves innate respect, even now when he still can't stand Harry. I'm glad you gave it a try!
Elearuth Author's Response: Thank you! I'm so happy that you can understand how Harry is feeling and thinking. I'm going to try to update again by the middle of next week, but I'll just have to see how it goes.
Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, Norie and Zan will help Harry a lot, especially in these first weeks, when Severus is still hostile.
I love Norie and Zan. They're so sweet! -Elise Author's Response: Thank you! I know, I feel bad for Harry, too, right now. And I do love Norie and Zan.
Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, I think Harry will eventually decide that living with Severus is infinitely better than living with the Dursleys, but he might not believe you if you told him that right now. Thanks for reviewing!
Author's Response: Thank you! Well, I'm done with the lesson plans, but I need to work on my other story this weekend, I think, so SC will have to wait a few days at the very least. I'm really so happy you like it, though. Thanks again!
Good story. Author's Response: Thank you! Glad you approve of Harry. I agree about him...he doesn't want to that spell to act against him, for sure, and it's a little different with Severus, too, now that he knows Severus has all the power and there really isn't much Harry could do to protect himself. You're right about Severus...right now, he's entirely too focused on having his own life upset to be terribly concerned about Harry...but he'll get there.
Author's Response: Thank you, Jan. I know Harry's not always easy for me to write...I just have to try. As for Severus, well, we all know he's not the soul of patience, especially with Harry, so I expect sparks to fly pretty soon. Does Harry ever manage to stay out of trouble? Although, to be fair, a lot of it isn't entirely his fault. Draco will eventually find out, but not for a while. About Lucius, I'm not really planning on him being in the story much, if at all. Consider him safely locked away in Azkaban. Or I might even kill him off, but he's not going to be much of a threat to Harry, I don't think.
Author's Response: Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked the descriptions. I like writing them, too, sometimes to excess, but I like to be able to picture people and places in my mind, and to know exactly how they're feeling and what they're thinking, etc., so I try to write all that. Thanks so much! |
