Reviews For Slave Child
Author's Response: Thank you! I have enjoyed reading your reviews so much. It really means a lot when someone is enjoying the story and thinking of the characters. I think you made some good points about Draco. Unfortunately, he learned to project a mask early on. He does have a lot of prejudices and beliefs that need to be corrected, but he is young and he can change. Thanks again.
Only suggestion/request I'd make, is please stop putting spoilers in the chapter end notes -- for example talking about Harry's upcoming suicide attempt before he made the attempt, or talking about the return to Prince Hall as being important to the story rather than letting it unfold. Sounds like someone has been making you defensive/insecure, but you don't need to justify anything -- it's a great story, just keep writing it! :) Author's Response: Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm sorry it took a while to respond. I had a really crazy week and not much free time. I'm glad you think the boys are in character and yeah, they are still very young and caught up in very serious circumstances.
Author's Response: Well, I won't call you that, and I don't know about Draco. What he did to Harry was really horrible, and some people might find it unforgivable. That's okay...not everyone has to like Draco, that's fine. I do feel some sympathy for him, but he has a long way to go. I'm not trying to make you or anyone else change their minds about Draco, really, but a thought crossed my mind that I would just like to say. I'm presuming that lots of people here like Severus Snape and feel that he deserved a chance to be redeemed and have a chance at a better life, but let's not forget that Snape was a true Death Eater for a time in his life and during that time, I believe he also did some pretty horrible things to innocent people. But he did come to see that he was wrong, to feel remorse, and to want to make up for that. Now, Draco has not gotten to that point, I admit. Right now he is still self-centered and hasn't really come to feel remorse for harming Harry. But I don't think he would have cast the slavery spell if he had known what he was doing. Notifying the newspaper was a terrible thing to do, no denying it and like I said, some would say unforgivable. I see it more as Draco, in the midst of great pain, turmoil, and anger, lashing out, having a lack of impulse control, and not thinking things through at all. Should he go to Azkaban or receive some other type of punighment? How hardened is Draco? Could he learn to feel empathy? How? Does he deserve the chance to be redeemed and become a different type of person, or should he just be punished and taken out of the story? People are going to have different answers to those questions, and I know that not everyone will like my plans for the rest of the story. But it has been planned for two years now. I had Draco's fate planned before I began writing SC, and I think it would ruin the story to make such a major change now. The only thing I will say for certain is that Severus is not going to adopt Draco, and he will not become part of the family. As for Narcissa, she certainly was not a nice person, and I find it hard to feel a lot of sympathy for her too. Overall, she was a big failure as a mother, but in the end she did try to save her son. Thanks again!
Author's Response: Thanks so much! Sorry it took a while to respond; I had a very busy week last week and didn't have a lot of time for the computer. Yeah, OOC-ness is almost necessary, I suppose, in a story like SC. Thanks, too, for the vote of confidence! I hope you'll end up satisfied!
Author's Response: Thank you for reviewing and for the compliment! Sorry it's taken me a while to respond. I haven't had much free time this past week so I wasn't able to do much on the computer. I'm sorry, but Draco will have more of a role in SC from now on. He will not become Severus' son/Harry's brother, and he is going to receive some punishment that will hopefully have an effect on him and help him to learn empathy for others. I'm sorry if you choose not to read, but I have had the story planned for two years and I don't want to make a major change at this point.
Author's Response: Oh, thank you! That means a lot to me! Sorry it took me a while to respond; I had a crazy busy week and not much free time. I'm going to work on a chapter for Pair of Phoenixes next, but then I will get back to SC. |
