Reviews For Slave Child
Author's Response: Thank you!
And Draco seems to be growing up a bit which is nice to see, you're writing his path to maturity well ^-^ And even with this chapter... well, I think you just write a very huggable Harry because I always come away from this fic wanting to ^^ Wouldnt it be great if Harry and Draco both got to be someone's sole focus... I cant but think Sirius or Remus could have handled him in the books (although perhaps Sirius and Draco alone would have been a bit of a disaster come to think of it ^-^) Anyway, tangents ahoy, I'm off to explore them and search out my muse, I hope yours stays more readily available ^^ have fun ^^ x Author's Response: Thank you, sproutchild! Well, there are some great stories out there with Harry, Severus, and Draco becoming a family, but I wanted to do something a little different here. Yeah, Draco is maturing a bit. >>>I can't but think Sirius or Remus could have handled him in the books... Very interesting that you commented on that, lol, very interesting.... Oh, I do hope for another chapter of Antonomasia soon...you're getting to a very good part, it seemed like.
Author's Response: Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
This chapter was a nice example of how Severus is changing throughout the story as Draco noted. He was very patient with Harry yet stayed his observant self. Then there's the nice bit of Severus introspection that got into his newer evolved psyche. We see that Severus' thoughts are starting to be dominated by what's good for Harry, instead of for himself or other, which is very realistic in recognizing Harry fully as his son. Then finally, at the end we see the shift with Draco. There's a bit of Sev's newfound patience, and then treats Draco with Harry in mind, knowing that Harry has to come first. At the end, the "Harry studies in the library in the mornings. Wait until lunch," bit was perfect. It really summed up the whole purpose of this chapter for me. Great chapter, and I look forward to what you've got coming up. I hope there's some progress on the slavery spell soon. Author's Response: Thank you, Ella! I loved your comments on how Severus has changed, but I hope I have also kept his true inner self the same, just had him reach his potential in becoming a better person. And of course Harry is Severus' main concern. He cares for Draco, but Harry is his son. As for the slavery spell, I hope you can be patient...did I mention that I had decided to incorporate the potential sequel ideas into this story and have it be longer? If I do that, I may have to change the timeline on certain things, such as resolution of the slavery spell. But it will be addressed in due time!
Author's Response: Thank you! I never really liked canon Draco much either. He had potential to change and redeem himself, but imo, he never really managed it. I did learn to like fanon Draco, at least some versions of him, and decided to see what I could do with him in a story. I'm happy if he's beginning to reach you too.
Great chapter--I'm glad to see that Draco is really thinking about things. V. Author's Response: Thank you! I hope reading isn't too painful for you, lol!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm so happy that you're still enjoying it.
Author's Response: I can't resist either, lol. Thank you!
And then poor Harry, who feels threatened by Draco's presence and the amount of time that Severus is required to spend with Draco also. I sincerely hope that Severus can find a solution so that both boys needs are met. I feel so sad, but hopeful at the same time. I think that if anyone can find a solution to satisfy both boys needs, it will be Severus! Oh, and I can see change beginning to blossom in Draco, which is very heartening. He is still going to need constant guidance, but it is a very encouraging sign that he told Severus that he didn't like the actions of Voldemort, or his followers. I hope that Draco can stay on the path of the straight an narrow, and that Severus can find someone who'll be able to focus their attention solely on him. Both boys need that stable, strong father-figure. Great great chapter Kristeh. I can't wait to read the next chapter. Author's Response: Thank you, Pandora! I was really hoping to portray both boys in a sympathetic light. I know full well that some people just don't like Draco and that's ok...there are some characters that I don't like and don't sympathize with also, and some people consider his actions towards Harry to be unforgivable. While they certainly have a right to their opinion, I do think that's a little harsh towards a 16 yr. old kid who, in this story, was also a victim of abuse and neglect. I think what makes me see Draco as redeemable is that he didn't know what the slavery spell when he cast it, and he wouldn't have if he had known, and when he went to the papers, he was still suffering so from the aftermath of his mother's murder and from being tortured by DEs, that he almost wasn't in his right mind...at least he was in a lot of pain and he lashed out without thinking. It's not admirable, but I think it is understandable...sort of. But some other changes are coming for our boys, so there's still a lot to work out.
