Reviews For Hide Yourself Away
Author's Response: Isn't it? I loved this chapter, it made me laugh. Thanks for reading! There are more funny parts to come!
-P.G. Author's Response: Yeah that was one of my favorites too, James is so . . .kinky, LOL! And it's a typical thing for him to suggest to Lily.
Author's Response: You're right about the cousin thing, I know because I have so many of them. But I wanted to keep Harry's thought processes mistaken since he has no clue about family relationships, growing up the way he did. Perhaps Sev might have a discussion with him in a future book about it. And that Robin Hood part is one of my favs, I love the movie, and so many people never realized that Alan Rickman was the sheriff, LOL!
Author's Response: Heaven help us, yes they do! And it's always when you've got some friend or significant other there too.
I just found this fic and am enjoying it immensely. I do have a couple of questions/critiques, though, which will hopefully be addressed in the remaining chapters. If not, perhaps you could go back and edit. For one thing, I'm wondering why Harry hasn't had any nightmares of what recently happened to him with the Death Eaters. I recall that canon!Harry had horrific nightmares after what happened in the graveyeard when he was tortured and Cedric was killed. Why no nightmares after the horrific torture he went through in Albania? In fact, he seems to not have spoken or thought of that time at all, except when bemoaning his loss of magic, and the one query about whether the DEs are still after him. The child counselor in me thinks it's unhealthy for him to be repressing that ordeal, and that Snape should be pressuring him to speak of it, if not to him, than to a professional counselor. Elsewise the memories of those days he was tortured will fester and might turn into PTSD. I hope that lack is remedied in later chapters. Another question I had is about the extra year Harry had before Voldie killed Lily and James; How does that work? -- I mean, in canon, Harry learns what happened to his parents mostly by reading about the incident in "Greatest Wizards of the 20th Century" or something, and learns they died in 1981. So, unless everyone in the Wizarding world is in on the lie, there should be some reason for the extra year. I hope that will be explained, too. I know this story (and its sequel) are already completed, but these points really jumped out at me as things that need to be addressed to make for a better story. Again, I love the story, and you have a great way with words and imagery. *off to read next chapter . . .* Author's Response: harry has been repressing those nightmares and they will be coming out soon. Severus knows this but doesn't feel comfortable yet pushing him to reveal them, he hopes they will emerge on their own. They aren't yet at a comfortable stage of their relationship for Harry to reveal all that went on at the DE hands just yet.
As for the extra year difference, that is explained simply by the fact that this is AU and things occurred at a different time and pace than in the original books. I gave Harry an extra year with Lily, Sev, and James because I wanted him to develop more memories of his early years and that is why the time is different. Harry was told several lies as well which accounts for the discrepency.
the memories were amazing Author's Response: I don't know! And this was one of my favorite chapters!
Author's Response: Aw, you're sweet!
Author's Response: Yes, he will, but not just yet. You'll see him in another few chapters as a kid, during one of Snape's memories and again as an adult towards the end. he'll be along soon, don't worry!
Author's Response: You're welcome and I'm glad I put that little tidbit in there, you should watch it, it's a great movie! |
