aww! You had Severus handle that wonderfully!

Author's Response: Oh good, I was worried he might have been a bit too harsh, even though he did keep his promise.

Nicely rescued, but . . . why was it necessary again? In canon, Sirius' innocence (or lack thereof) can only be "proved" by Harry and his schoolmates, because no adults would be believed. Lupin had been outed as a werewolf, so his word was suspect, and Severus would never speak up for Black, so the rescue was the only way Black would survive the night.

Here, as you've written the story, since Lupin's wolfiness is still a secret (and Snape will never out him since they're friends), the Minister has two well-liked (or at least respected) Professors who also heard the conversation and whose word should be taken into account on this case, but Snape, at least is acting all secretive about it. Why?

And Dumbledore could also use his "considerable influence", too, -- to pull for at least having a trial for Black this time around. There's no need for the time travelling rescue.

Also, though I like this story alright, I don't care for it as much as the original, as I'm not all that enthusiastic about inserted "Mary Sue" characters, like Aria, since they take center stage away from the characters I'd rather read about. And I'm really starting to get annoyed at Harry. He seems to be acting like he used to a year ago, before going to NJ -- like a snotty, talking-back and disobedient, unthinking brat, with the bad temper to boot. Didn't he learn anything from the meditation Snape was teaching him in the last story (which I assume was a prelude to Occlumency)? Or the many talks Sev has had with him about his temper, taking responsibility, and especially about being in danger from Death Eaters? He seems to have regressed badly from all the growing up he did in the US, and it's been disheartening to see him in trouble all the time, while his "good behavior" becomes almost a footnote amongst all the bad. Almost every chapter is him getting in trouble, or Snape lecturing him or punishing him for getting in trouble, a far cry from how he was doing for the 8 months they were away from Hogwarts. The major problem with such a regression, though, is that there's no apparent reason for it. If there IS a reason for this regression, please please please let me know! This strange Harry-bot is no fun, alas.

Sorry this isn't the nicest of reviews, but I wanted to be honest, especially since I enjoyed the first story in this series so much and I really wanted to enjoy this one, too.

    Author's Response:

I followed the book more in this one than in the other one for the plotline of this story, since I saw no reason not to except for a few obvious changes, one of them being Harry as Sev's son and Aria Lupin.  Aria is what makes this fic an Au one, and not merely a rewrite of the original, I have had original charcters in here before and don't know why some people don't care for her...but I like her and she is a major player in this series. I made her to be family to Remus, who is always so alone, and who needs someone to love and to parent and also because I wanted Harry to have a Slytherin friend who was not Draco or any of the characters in canon.  Aria is not a perfect character by anay means, so I don't understand why some people label her a mary-sue which to me emans a cardboard cut-out with no background and no personality.

Sirus Black--Fudge still beleives Sirius is a criminal, he doesn't want to listen to anyone except himself, despite Sev's attempts to tell him otherwise, Black escaping looks bad on his record, he's a politician, and needs a big coup to get better PR and that's why the rescue is necessary, plus Severus oncehad connections as a DE, and still has that past to live down, so he's not as well-respected as you might think.  Fudge only thinks he's a hero because he brought in Black. As for Albus, he never bothered to help Sirius much in canon, so I'm keeping him the same here.  Plus it gives Severus a chance to interact with Sirius.

Harry-while he cna be mature for his age, he is also a thirteen-year-old boy, and all thirteen-year-olds go through a period of rebelliousness and testing.  he didn't test Severus before in HYA because he was still getting comfortable in their relationship and healing, now he's back at school, things are different, and he's going to push all Sev's buttons, like he did in canon.  In canon, all those kids did was get into trouble, only they were never called into account for their actions.  Harry isn't used to having a parent on staff to keep an eye on him and make him toe the line, at school he and Ron and Hermione pretty much ran wild, but he can't do that here, not with Severus and Remus.  I know it seemed like they fought every chapter, because in canon, which I was following, that was how the events played out, and though you'd think he'd behave while in school, knowing his parent is there, the sad fact is he didn't and then has to face consequences.  Some of them aren't so nice either, but he will eventually learn and he and Severus will get along better.  My nephew went through a  period like this as well, drove everyone in the family nuts with his attitude and disrespect and it happened overnight too soon as he hit the teens, until he finally relaized it got him nowhere and started to behave rationally again, almost a year later.  Harry is, in this fic being a typical teenager rebellious brat, annoying as it may be.

In the next one, he will be much more mature, though not done getting into trouble, because he is still a teenager and they all do.  As always thanks for reviewing.

I would love to see another story in this series after you finish Heir to Prince Manor.

Author's Response: I have plans for one, so don't worry.  I just need to finish Heir and do some research on pre-Katrina New Orleans.  Thanks for reviewing, as always! :)

Alligator tail is really yummy. Tastes like chicken. We would get alligators in our lake when I lived in Jacksonville. It was always neat to see them swimming around.

Author's Response: I know, I've eaten it.  I used to live in Florida, in Odessa, near Tampa.  Once an alligator was crossing the road in front of our house and my dad nearly ran it over.  Another time, a baby one crawled in our house through our cat door and nearly scared my mom to death. Luckily we got it out of the house with a fishing net, the vicious little thing!

Author's Response: Thanks and you shall see them there, when I have time to write the sequel!
