Very interesting backstory. I love the mythalogical aspect and it makes a lot of sense. (In my fics, I generally explain parselmouths as being the descendants of snake Youkai.)

Hmm, I feel sorry for Harry. Will he be human again soon?
Your sentence "If anything, he aught to be an elder among panthers" should be changed from "aught" (which means "zero") to "OUGHT", as in "should". Not trying to be critical, just helpful; forgive me.
Good chapter, I'm totally liking it!!
Now that's a neat twist! I love Egyptian mythology and Harry and Severus's conncetion to the sphinx is very original.
I also love panthers, Bagheera was my favorite charcter in Kipling's Jungle Book.
One small detail I noticed, is that you used the word "aught" instead of "ought" which is the correct word here. I don't mean to nitpick, but I'm an English teacher and I continually correct grammar even when I don't need to. Other than that, your writing is error free!
