I loved the memories Sev recalled, it was very heartwarming that Severus realized that Lily excepted him and loved him. What Tobias said that happened to him when Sev was little was really quite shocking, and explains his fear of magic. Very creative. Though, it's no excuse for being abusive. I think that this is a very good idea, if Tobias understands what Sev went though and how he felt, then he will truly regret it and try even harder to never act like that again. I'm somewhat dreading next chapter, but I must know what Sev went through! Man, you can really feel the angst from Sev, that one quote, "And what about me dad?" made my eyes water. You can tell that deep inside he still strives for acceptance and love from his parent. Beautiful take on emotions! Can't wait for your next chapter! Must remember to bring a tissue box along before reading it though.... Ah, but I do love the emotional scenes! Author's Response: Yes that was my idea too! Tobias needs to really empathize with his son, and feel what Sev felt in order to truly know what he did was horribly wrong. And he will, by the time Sev's spell runs it's course. Be warned--I'm going to have some MAJOR emotional scenes here--not graphic, but major ones where you'll probably need a box of Kleenex, especially at the end of the chapter. And I like how you picked up on the scene between Severus and Lily, to me that was a very moving scene as well. And yes, poor Sev, deep inside he's still a lost little boy needing and longing for Tobias to tell him that he loves him. And if you're somewhat dreading reading the next chapter, I'm somewhat dreading having to write it--I tend to get very involved and will probably be shedding tears of my own writing this. Oh well, whatever works and I need that emotional impact, or else it won't be good, right?
Author's Response: God help them, they can! Although it is understandable, since Severus never had the chance to tell Tobias how he really felt before!
Author's Response: Yes, the next chapter, which I'm working on now, should be quite interesting and hopefully will really drive home to Tobias the awful impact his abuse had on his son and why he must never ever repeat his past mistakes!
Sev setting Tobias on fire I could see why Tobias would be scared of him (not an excuse for abuse however). Tobias experiencing Sev's past... this should be interesting Author's Response: I know, that line choked me up too . . .and I wrote it. I wanted to show that Severus still has that needy little boy inside of him, the one who longs to be reassured that his father still loves him, since Tobias never told him or showed him as a child. You're right about the fire incident, and it's not an excuse for abuse, though Tobias tries to wriggle out of the guilt he feels by using it as a crutch. Doesn't work though, as you can see. And the next chapter has lots and lots of drama. I'm probably gonna cry writing it! Sometimes that happens, LOL. |
