Reviews For Never Again!
Extremely cute, in parts, and well-written in its entirety. I love it! Now off to read the sequel... Author's Response: Thanks so much! I really love this AU it's so much fun to write!
I particularly like the idea of Severus being a Healer/Potions Master. I don't think that I've ever read a fic where he's in that kind of career. I found the changes in Tobias Snape extremely realistic, along with Severus' reaction to him. Very believable! And I LOVE that last little bit about Inky coming to life from Harry's magic! "Why did I ever let him read THE VELVETEEN RABBIT?" LOL! That was so funny! Well done! Author's Response: Thanks! This story was written as a prompt from Daughter Of Ares so I wanted to portray a different and more rounded Tobias Snape. Oh, good, because when I made him that, I thought . . .I hope this doesn't sound too crazy, but I think it fits him. Yeah that line was classic. If you read Growing Pains you'll get to see more of Inky alive.
Author's Response: Thanks and hope you enjoy the others in this series. There are many of them.
Thanks a lot for sharing :) Author's Response: Thanks and you can read the sequel it's posted here. Sev and Tobias will now have quite a good relationship, now that they have reconciled the past and changed for the better.
Author's Response: I did post the first part of this on FF.net, or rather DaughterofAres did before I had an account, but something happened and she stopped posting and when i tried to email her several times, I got no answer. I hope nothing went wrong, although it could just be something like her computer crashing and she needed to get a new one, she did mention to me way back in August that she was having trouble with it. I'm glad you like my universe, it was a shot in the dark, and I wanted to take all the HP characters down a different path, well for some of them. Tobias's character is based a lot on my brother-in-law who struggled with alcoholism for over twenty years before finally going sober for good and he is now a charter mentor for AA. I asked him a lot of questions about what an alcoholic remembered and how they reacted under the influence. he provided me with a great deal of insight for crafting a believable version of Tobias. Sev's character should always have some sarcasm in it, though I think that if given a chance, and a good dose of love and people who care about him, he could be a most loyal and loving father, husband, and friend. He never got the chance in the books, which was why i think he turned so very bitter and angry. But in my universe, he is given the chance and hence is a better Severus Snape. There's more with Tobias in the sequel Growing Pains.
You are officially going on my list of new favorites. Your writing and story telling abilities are amazing and you have a way with words that I envy like you wouldn't believe. I went into this story a little leery and very worried for Harry's sake, and I'm so happy to have read it feeling as much emotion towards the situation as Sev. You did an excellent job of creating the realistic within this world of magic. Gah, I love it! Author's Response: Thanks very much, I tried to make this as realistic as I could without making it too graphic and still having a positive resolution. I dislike unhappy stories where my favorite charcaters die, so I usually try and keep my stories with emotional impact and yet still giving the reader a positive feeling at the end of it. This story was very emotional for me to write since I knew several people who have been abused as children and I used to take courses on child abuse when i was a preschool and middle school teacher and so this was difficult to write in the beginning. That chapter where Sev confronts Tobias and walks through his memories was particularly difficult to write. Have you read the prequel, Where Shadows go yet? That's also very emotional but it is also amusing and funny too. I love this series which is why I've written so many stories in it.
Author's Response: Thank you. There's a sequel to this, Growing Pains and a prequel, Where Shadows Go as well.
Author's Response: Thanks and hope you like the sequel just as much!
Great story. I started it on ff.net, and it's just so adorable. I do need these little background tidbits, like why it's not canon, cleared up, but other than that it's great. Author's Response: Hi! This a completely AU fic, where nothing happens like it did in canon, save for a few things, such as Harry being James and Lily's son, though he's NOT the Boy Who Lived, since James, Sirius, Remus, and Severus managed to kill him for good in this timeline. There will be more backstory to this with the prequel, Where Shadows Go, which I've just started, although you could read Growing Pains, which is the sequel to NA, and explains a little more about how the Maurauders and Severus were friends as kids and not enemies. I wanted to do something totally different here, which is why I made Sev a Healer and Potions Master and not a spy and teacher. A few tidbits here, yes, Sev was a Slytherin since I really can't see him in any other House, but Lily was a Ravenclaw, and the other three were Gryffindors, but without the extreme prejudice, mostly due to Lily's influence on them and the fact that Severus saves Sirius's life as a child, you'll learn more about that in WSG. Severus was never friends with Lucius in this timeline, he avoided him like the plague, and so never became a Death Eater. Instead he concentrated on his Potions Mastery and a choice between being an Auror and a Healer, he chose to be a Healer. This whole series is focused on love, redemption, forgiveness, and families and hopefully you'll read more of it. |
