Reviews For Never Again!
Altough, it seems as if Tobias is the way he is because it was the way he was raised. Maybe Harry can break the cycle. Author's Response: Yes there will indeed and that is partly true and Harry will play a major role in turning Tobias's attitude around.
Author's Response: Oh God will he ever and there will be a huge fight then, believe me!
Author's Response: Yes, you do and Sev will find out eventually as you'll see.
I can see tiny, itsy bits of clues that maybe Harry and Tobias are going to develop a decent relationship out of this. I can also see Tobias making a lot of threats but not having the heart to follow through. Maybe Severus was more difficult to handle, but Harry'll tug at his heart sooner or later. Or maybe that's just me...hoping. ;) The flashbacks were good. I especially enjoyed the moment with Harry and Severus. It was really sweet, and when you juxtapose Tobias and Severus like that, it just reiterates the fact that cycles of abuse or harsh treatment can be ended. I suppose that's why I have a difficult time sympathizing with those who carry on that cycle. But I like how Tobias has given Harry a bedtime and made him hamburgers and frenchfries. I can see a bedtime story in Tobias' future. LOL. Again, great story. I'm still enjoying this a lot, and can't wait to see what else you've got planned! Author's Response: Yes, I decided after thinking it over for awhile that it might be interesting to show Tobias as a more well-rounded character rather than the original nasty abusive bastard I had originally planned. It gives me more scope as a writer to play with the characters and to show that Tobias can attempt to change his life around. One huge difference is that he was an alcoholic during all of Sev's childhood, and it played a large role in his temperament and how he dealt with Severus. Now he's older, a recovering alcoholic, and mellowed a bit. He will eventually realize that the way he behaved with Sev was wrong and indeed it ruined their relationship, and he will try and do better with Harry--key word there is try-for he will still make mistakes, and some of those mistakes will be monumental.
Author's Response: I know, but perhaps Tobias will have a change of heart!
Author's Response: Yes, I know what you mean.
Great story Author's Response: Thanks and Sev should be waking up in, oh, another three chapters, at least that's how I have it planned.
next chapter sounds very interesting; I'm looking forward to it. One comment on this chapter: why would Harry be praying to God? Not only was Snape never portrayed as religious in canon, but Wizards aren't Christian as a rule and I certainly can't see Harry's dad picking up any religion from Tobias :) Author's Response: Thanks and actually, in canon, I found Draco exclaiming "God, Potter you're so stupid!" a few times, and JK never said that wizards don't believe in God, they celebrate Christmas and Easter, which are religious holidays. As for Sev, Tobias wasn't his only influence, he also had his mother and Dumbledore, both of whom would have stressed the idea of a loving forgiving God to him, at least in my opinion, to balance out the abuse he suffered at Tobias's hands. Anyhow, religion isn't really the main focus of this story.
Author's Response: Me too, though it won't be for a few chapters yet!
Author's Response: Thank you and I'm writing away! LOL! |
