Author's Response: Oh, Tobias won't kill him, he's not quite that bad, but he's a strict bastard all the same and he doesn't know how to treat a kid nicely, since he spent nearly all of Sev's childhood drunk and in a temper. So be prepared for some major blunders and tears, just warning you!
Anyway, I can see this version of Tobias as a very strict grandfather who sees nothing wrong in doling out a spanking with a belt. He would think it's just good discipline, especially since he's providing Harry with his other essential needs: food, a place to sleep, etc. I do feel terribly sorry for Harry already, and I hope that Severus gets well soon, too! Great beginning few chapters to this story. I'm loving it so far :) Author's Response: Yes, and so do I, which is why I don't do that in mine. There will be a couple of instances when he smacks Harry and one or two spankings, but one will be sort of deserved and the other . . .well I won't spoil the story for you. I've also updated my other story, btw, so you can check out the adventure with Buckbeak, it's pretty funny and serious all at the same time.

Also, please don't leave Severus in a coma for to long. a month or two or maybe three, but please not a year. Great chapter and I'm eagerily awaiting the next one! Author's Response: I won't leave Severus in a coma for a year, he isn't as badly hurt as all that. I was thinking maybe three months, but no longer than six. Glad you're enjoying this! I've also updated my other story tonight as well!
I find it hard to believe that Severus wouldn't've made alternate arrangements for child care in case he was unable to care for Harry. I don't know if you can fit this in your story, but it wouldn't surprise me if he had made arrangements in his will or some other legal document which has simply not come to light since he is not dead, but incapacitated. Regardless, Tobias hasn't even started in yet and I'm already hoping Severus will wake up soon! Author's Response: You're right and I was thinking along those lines, because Severus isn't stupid and the last thing he'd want is for his father to get custody of his son, but the Ministry jus took the easy way out--as they did in the books when they left JK's Harry with the Dursleys. I was going to mention the provisional guardian part when Severus finally regains consciousness, which won't be for a couple of chapters yet.
