Reviews For Lily's Charm: The Gift
(Can I just copy and paste Lesley's review? She said all I was feeling so nicely!) Yes, Sirius....you will see Harry can love you and Sev both because Harry will go to the ends of the earth for the people he loves...he'll prove it to you. I found Severus' analysis of Remus and his self-worth fascinating. I'd never thought about it from Remus' point of view that way. Nicely done. Heck, I was blushing *for* Harry in his talk with this dad about the contraceptive charm. Poor Harry. I love Severus. He can always help Harry see hope when he's feeling rather hopeless, doesn't he? The hug goes to Severus (and then I quickly run away before he smacks me) for being such a patient wonderful father this chapter (as always). Author's Response: Ewwww. (about hubby, I mean...lol) LOL Harry will certainly do his darnedest, won't he? And I'm glad you liked the bit about Remus. I completely believe his entire sense of self is wrapped up in the whole werewolf thing. What will he do now? Poor Harry indeed. And this won't be the end of that particular discussion. :oP I love Sev as well. *sigh* Yay for Sev!
I also love the way Sev seems to be able to read Harry's mind at any given time without legilimising him. And I love that Sev is so understanding of Harry's need to not have to choose. If only he could be so sure of sirius. He longs for sirius to be as understanding as his father is. I love the talk between the two. Sev is so gentle with his son, so concerned. It broke my heart to think that after everything that Tobias did to him, Sev still cared for his father. Like abused children every where, when it is a parent, the need to be loved by that parent intensifies because it is being denied to him or her. I think the love for a parent is it is inbuilt in humans, and to destroy that love and that trust is one of the lowest acts a human can perpetrate. I loved that Sev demonstrated the difference between Sirius and his father and told Harry that despite the horrible things he did to him at school, Sirius is not evil. Immature and thoughtless, not evil. And I loved Harry's question...'would you be able to care for someone who hated me?' And I loved Sev's honest answer. The firewhisky confuses me a little. You're talking about Harry nearly drinking a whole bottle of the stuff. Was that like a bottle of whisky with a mixer, an individual single serve bottle. Because I was thinking about a full bottle of straight whisky, which would probably nearly kill a kid not used to alcohol. The whole Ginny thing was beautifully done...poor Harry was so mortified. I take it that some pretty heavy petting went on in that bed. I don't remember the promise that Harry made to Ginny...can you refresh my memory there? I am glad Sev is sensible about teenage sexuality and didn't come down on HArry for what he and Ginny had got up to and what they may get up to in the future. Forbidding teens is a sure way of ensuring they do exactly what you have demanded they don't do. And I loved the ending where Hary is determined to show Sirius that he can love him as much as he loves his dad and his girlfriend and all the other important people in his life. BTW, I can't believe that you only got five reviews on P&S for the last chapter. That's about my average. It's been better that last few chapters. Anyway, as always, I'm waiting, waiting, waiting...always waiting for another chapter, except while I'm reading your latest offering. Hee hee. ~LesleY~ Author's Response: You know, as I reading this chapter over last night before I uploaded, I had to chuckle as well. Great minds think alike! It was a single serve bottle of firewhisky. I don't know if they actually come that way in canon, but hey, it's AU, right? LOL I agree with you wholeheartedly about abusive parents. And it's too bad that Severus had to go through that. He deserved better. Yep, Severus is very much wanting Harry to understand that he won't have to choose between him and Sirius, and since his basic purpose in life at this point is to make sure Harry is happy, he will do whatever he needs to do to make that happen, even it it means talking about Sirius Black a bit. LOL YOu'll have to wait and see the specifics of Harry and Ginny's escapades. They are both up next. As well as a nice chat with Sirius and a bit of a frantic and irritated Sev... Hmmm...salivating for more yet? I know, I'm mean. And yeah, Severus is not the strict type as he is in some fics. He is pretty pragmatic about some things, like Harry's relationship with Ginny. We'll have to wait and see if Sirius is so easy to peruade as Harry is hoping. LOL As for reviews, they've been sparse lately. Hopefully, it's just a dry spell and not an indication of reader feelings. *shrug* Thanks for the review, Les. I appreciate it muchly. :o)
Author's Response: LOL Well, all is right for now. We still have a certain mutt to worry about. Not to mention, a certain single werewolf, and a flummoxed girlfriend. Oh well. It was nice while it lasted, I suppose. And yeah, Contraceptive Charms are fun. Poor Harry. I think it's worse, because Severus can occlude so well, he seems totally unaffected. Just matter of fact and right to the point. :oP Thanks for reviewing.
Author's Response: LOL Cathy draws some nice pics of dear Remus on the yahoo board, if you'd like a peek. ;o) Thanks for reviewing and I'm glad you are enjoying the story so far. Thanks. The dynamics between these characters is really the reason I keep writing as well. I just can't get enough of them. :o) |
