Reviews For Lily's Charm: The Gift
I LOVED the scene where he helps Harry with his tie. That was really sweet an just a great father and son moment. Sigh. Also, awesome about the Dark Mark going away. Yay! Dawn creeps me out. I wish they'd all stay away from poor Harry... And maybe I missed something in an earlier chapter, but it wasn't until the scene between Remus and Sirius that I figured out *why* Severus and Harry were getting dressed up and going out. It may be worthwhile to go back in towards the beginning of that scene and clear that up. Anyhow, great chapter! But if you'll excuse me, ya left off with a terribly suspenseful cliffie, so I need to go read that now. ;-)
Author's Response: Thank! Glad you enjoyed it!
Tobias Snape was as much a monster as his foul wife. How did Severus Snape rise from the combined bile of these two heinous people...I know, with the love of Lily evans to help him. But this terrible childhood abuse, combined with his later treatment of his own son are the reason's why Severus is unable to be harsh with HArry any longer. He was the shadow of his own father for a while in his treatment of James Potter's son, but he got a second chance and he cannot blow it, for his own sanity. I loved the way Sev, Remus and Sirius all worked together to protect HArry, and how severus and Sirius both exclaimed so vehemently in the negative about Harry putting in a good word for Narcissa. Tonks is one cheesed off Auror, I can't wait to see some kind of resolution there. And Scrimgeour must have felt like he had swallowed acid when forced into the corner about Remus. I loved that HArry recognised the advocates sleezy moves towards Sev, but I am not sure that the moves were entirely because she was crawling to Harry Snape's father. We've SEEN Sev without his shirt. Hmm hmm! God, I so hate that Scuzball Lucius might walk free because of one good deed he did (or maybe two) when he has spent the majority of his life murdering, raping and pilaging. It's sickening. And Bellatrix...has she bought about her own end? I am not sure exactly why all of the Weasleys, DD, Hermione, et all are there for the trial, especially as it seems to be a given that Malfoy will walk free. And HArry's fear for Ginny was such a cliffhanger. Will he be more than a little peeved with his dad, or what. Hey, I can find out PDQ! I have another chapter to read. Thanks Tab for a wonderful ride. Les Author's Response: LOL That's true about Sev without his shirt. Yummy. Tonks and Remus are definitely having issues at the moment. Don't be excited for a resolution any time soon though! LOL Everyone was simply there to support Harry. They've been his pseudo-family for years now. And they didn't know Malfoy would get off scot free. And yep, Severus cannot be harsh with Harry. He is much too afraid of becoming his father, and that combined with his terrible guilt of the past, he will never be able to do it. You're right, Severus cannot blow this with Harry. He wants, much like he did with Lily to make his son happy. To both of their detriments, sometimes but they figure it out eventually.
Loved the 'tie' scene...such a sweet little scene with father and son. The trial was well-written and realistic and what a way to end! I'm looking forward to more!
What is the "thoroughly uncomfortable topic" that Harry brought up with his father while getting help with his tie? His relationship with Vernon and Dudley? Asking his father for help? This wasn't quite clear. Speaking of ties, is Severus actually wearing a tie here - a muggle-style tie, like what the students wear with their school uniforms??? Nice how Sirius and Severus tell Ridley "no" in unison, when she asks Harry to speak on behalf of the Lestranges. Bellatrix might have declined this herself, being above the help of muggles and halfbloods. Would it be customary to have all the death eater defendants in the courtroom at once, rather than bringing them in one or two at a time, as each case was heard? This seems odd. It will be interesting to see who is pulling Scrimgeour's strings now.
Sirius and Harry need some quiet time to talk.
