Reviews For Lily's Charm: The Gift
Great job!
Author's Response: Thanks! What a wonderful compliment! I'm so glad you enjoyed the chapter. It was a very fun one to write for me. :o)
That was so beautiful and so sad at the same time! You have outdone yourself on this chapter (and that's saying something!). I have no words for how heart-wrenching and poignant and beautifully written (as per usual) this chapter is. Now, darn, where ARE those tissues?!
Poor Harry. Thank goodness he has a dad this time around.
"The teacup slipped from Harry’s fingers. The sound of shattering china reverberated in his ears. His father’s black robes filled his vision, but Harry could only see the fluttering of the immortal fabric in the Department of Mysteries." It's like Sev's robes become the veil for him. I love this moment where Harry looses it for a second and then is instantly back together (or so he thinks). You had me pretty worried that he was actually going to go to the veil (even worse, I was worried that it was going to be a cliffie about going to the veil, lol). I'm glad he couldn't betray Sev, as Sev would never forgive himself if Harry went veil-diving. I imagine the angst would be 10 times what Harry is feeling now and could have easily ended with Sev's suicide (he's already admitted to Harry that he's the reason he came back from the dead in LC). I'm so glad he didn't go. The way you described Harry finally giving into the tears was just beautiful. It went by so slowly that I nearly cried myself because I could imagine feeling all of those things. Great job--all that poking paid off! -P.G.
Love this bit, "... as the tears shook both of them." you dont realize until then that Severus may be crying as well, from the force of his son's pain.
So when the painful truth hit him in standing in front of that fireplace, it felt like it almost hit me equally as hard. I guess I wanted Sirius to come back just as badly as Harry. *sobs* Poor Harry...you saw the threads unravel slightly at the mention of the funeral and his inability to stay at the Weasley's long. You really can't blame Hermione for writing to Severus rather than to Harry. Is Harry going to be able to begin healing emotionally now that he's begun to accept Sirius' death? Or is there still more angst around the corner? Albus and his "fussing" over Severus' emotional status. How can you not love the old geezer? That was a powerful, gut-wrenching, truly believable chapter. Marvelous work, OE and Jade. |
