How will Harry and Draco ever learn to get along? My prediction is there is going to be a fight.

Poor Harry, his penmanship must be quite bad... Good that Severus found away to help... but copying the alphabet, that must be pretty boring.... Well I like the chapter and am eagerly waiting for Harry's reaction to the fact that Draco is coming... he will not be too happy! LOL!

Author's Response: If you've ever tried to write with a quill pen (I have) it is very difficult, and repetition is really the only way you learn.  And no Harry isn't going to like the fact that Draco is coming to live there.

oh dang another story with draco added :P too bad

good chapter otherwise... but i hate it when authors throw draco into the mix...

Author's Response: Normally I don't, but I decided to try it this time and see how it goes.  I hated Draco in canon, but this is AU, so I'm free to change his personality a bit. Maybe you'll like my version better.

A defence or plea for Dudley to be part of Sev’s new family; No story (or any I have read) has a muggle Dudley being a significant part of Harry’s life. Dudley can learn to fight and use swords or even strategic logic (similar to King Arthur to a Merlin) and be part of Harry’s team. Sev can either give Dudley a medallion which allows him to see the magical world or Dudley can have a little amount of magic, not enough to get into Hogwarts but enough to see the magical world. Voldemort would destroy the muggle world if given a chance, it would be fair if one or two muggles fight to defeat him as well- all else Dudley would want revenge for his father and may even understand Harry better now as the treat that Harry has faced all his life is now real to him.

Author's Response: I agree, and perhaps in a future sequel I will do that, but right now Dumbeldore has hidden them and Severus has a lot on his plate right now to deal with Dudley, Draco, and Harry.  But once those three have worked out their differences, maybe Sev will go and collect Dudley and Petunia and bring them to the manor and yes I do see it as plausible that Dudley would want to help Harry kill Voldy and would be a good addition to the team.  I'd love to see Voldy dodge a bullet!

Love Sev's teaching methods and love that he didn't punish Harry for shouting at him but realised the child was frustrated. Sev is patient and understanding and is teaching Harry in a manner that is appropriate for him. The punishment as well was just. Sev has to rescue Draco as well as Petunia and Dudley. Dumbledore should figure out that Severus has Harry since he knew that Severus wanted the boy away from his relatives and wanted him protected elsewhere; but if he doesn't it also means that Petunia has not told him, which means that Petunia inherently does not trust the Headmaster. Draco, Dudley and Harry could do with a father figure like Severus, the three of them could do with some time with an extra month or two with Sev, both Draco and Dudley would need time to get over their summer experiences; though Sev would need all the patients that he has.

Author's Response: Yes, Severus really is trying to make this work and I don't think it's OOC for him to display patience and understanding towards his son given all that he knows about him.  JKR's version of Snape was never given the opportunity to ever get to know the real Harry Potter, he didn't know of the abuse, all he saw was James reincarnated, which is why he acted prejudiced towards Harry in the books.  (I got a review on FF.net that said Sev and Petunia were too OOC, but I disagree based on the premise of my story).  Petunia doesn't trust any wizard except Severus and yes, Sev could be a good father figure to all three boys given time.

i think Severus' teaching methods were spot on. i would have done the same thing! I am glad the bastard's dead...serve's him right

i wonder how harry will react when he is told his rival will be comming to live with them!

Author's Response: Yeah, there won't be too many mourners at Vernon's funeral.  And you'll see Harry's reaction in the next chapter!  He isn't going to be too thrilled.

I loved it! I liked the penmanship thing, only I think you should explain how Hermione helped him exactly. Did she rewrite them for him? Or did they use a spell to just transfer the ink from the Muggle paper to the parchment?

I really liked Draco's letter, and I am very interested to see how this Draco and Harry will react to having to live together and share Snape. I really liked Draco's voice, and it seems as if you have done a good job with his character's voice. it's in character, but it's different enough to change and work with the story. Great job.

    Thanks for the update!!

    Author's Response:

You're right, I forgot to add a line there about how she transposed his homework and such.  I'm glad you like my Draco, I've tried to make him less of a snob here and more of a desperate teenager who had to live with less than ideal parents, parents who pushed him into following their creed of hatred and violence.  In a way, he was abused as much as Harry ever was, and hopefully Harry will realize this eventually, once Draco and he come to know each other better.  They will be rivals at first, but hopefully they will end up as friends and possibly brothers.

I can just hear the two boys now.

"But, he's my DAD!!!" yells Harry.

"Well, he was my godfather before he knew he is your dad" snarls Draco.

Author's Response: Yup, that about sums it up.  Everyone, battle stations please, for there will be  WAR!

I'm really enjoying the story. However I think Harry will have an issue with Draco becoming Severus' ward. He may be sympathetic to Draco's plight of becoming an orphan, but he also has just gained a "father" for himself and still has doubts about being abandoned. Now Severus is going to tell him that he has to share with Draco. I can see some regression on Harry's part until more trust is put into their relationship.
I look forward to your future chapters and have added this story to my faves.
    Keep up the great work.

Author's Response: Yes, there will be some problems with Draco and Harry together, since neither of them is going to want to share Severus with the other.  Thanks for the review and I'm so glad you like this!

Severus teaches well one on one. In classroom, he has to be very strict due to the danger involved, but he could be strict and not be demeaning to his students. I understand that part of that was an act and hopefully, he will change (a little) once he is back at Hogwarts.

Having Draco come into the house should liven things up a bit.

As far as Severus and Harry's relationship in this part of the story, it seemed as if they were acting like teacher//student instead of trying to reach father/son. Hopefully, they will get to that position one day.

Author's Response: yes he does, and he will change his teaching methods once he's back at school.  Draco's coming should definitely make things a lot more hectic around the manor, especially since draco will now be Sev's ward.  And their relationship will progress slowly towards a real father-son one.
